canuckguitarist
oh my... This is the most beautiful wood I have ever seen in my entire life. That seller actually has tonnes of nice veneer.

asm
bleh. VENEER? to cheap to buy a real top? someone cut up a beautiful peice of wood to slice it thin and sell it so people can make clocks, shelves, ect out of veneer sorry, not my idea of quality
truerussian558
also because you can cut it in the length of the diameter (cut around), so thinner woods, can make a piece of veener wide enoguh for a guitar top

However, I could still see myself using veneer for certain things. <waits for tom-foolery and smart-assed comments! > Greg
asm
i agree. using veneer for a headstock or small things is ok, but for a whole top you have to look at forever? ill pass. and hiding it from the side behind binding to make it look like a top. lol. so fake and cheap looking imho

It won't look any different... Or say your guitar to sound like its all mahogany, but you still want the good looks that say, a quilted or flamed maple top provides. What better way is there to add some nice figured maple, without messing around with the mahogany tone? Although maybe your talking about photo flames? They're cheap looking..... tsl602000
I agree with Canuck. 1/32 or 1/8 or even thicker on carved tops... it's still a veneered guitar anyway. I really don't understand your problem with veneer
Dr. Jabsco
its much more economical too. You dont use up so much great looking wood on one guitar. it saves money, and luithers can always use some extra cash. but if your covering a hunk of poplar in veneer, then i agree with you on that one.
