LGM Guitars
Well, I just finished it, so what the heck, how about another Leviathan This one is mahogany body, 5/16" thick quilted maple top, maple neck/ebony board, Dimarzio Evolution pickups, and a Hipshot bridge. Here's the newest Leviathan! http://pics.lgmguitars.com/pics/leviathans/Redfinished3.jpg http://pics.lgmguitars.com/pics/leviathans/redfinished4.jpg http://pics.lgmguitars.com/pics/leviathans/redfinished6.jpg
Pibrocher
Hello all, heres the Mushroom Project for your voting pleasure. This is the first guitar i'v ever built, so BE GENTLE. I meant to enter her in December's contest but I missed the entry date. Procrastination strikes again! Some of you may have seen it already. All the hardware was purchased from Warmoth. This little fungus gem was built completely from scratch. Mahogany sides with maple and mahogany sandwiched neck-thru. Body - Mahoganhy, 1 3/4" thick Neck - 2 piece Maple + 1 piece mahogany Fretboard - Birdseye maple Mushroom - Mahogany, Maple, and Cherry inlays Radius - 15" Scale length = 25.5" 24 frets Abalone 1/4" dot inlays Pickups Neck - Seymour Duncan Jazz Bridge - Syemour Duncan '59 Tunomatic bridge Stop tailpiece Black and Gold concentric pots 3 Way switch, Rythym/Both/Treble Gotoh Tuners There are no electronics channels routed in the face of the guitar and only a small section on the back. I wanted to showcase the wood more then anything so I drilled some tunnels in the sides before glueing the body to the neck. Looks like trouble already though, i'm running against another Leviathan Beauty!
bigdguitars
Here is my SRV copy that I built a while back. Specs: Alder body, black paint and vintage tint. Sprayed and took a blow torch too to get it to bubble then I wetsanded to smooth it out. Marks and dings made with a flap sander is device. I custom made the alder body, has the SRV Pickup set with my varitone switch in the last tone control can't see it bad pic. I had the real srv neck from warmoth, maple with pau ferro but hated the neck it sucked. So I found a deal on a koa, mascar fretboard neck, plays awesome soooo much better. I can get that SRV tone out of my pod 2.0 so I am happy. no its not an exact copy not made to be that, just something neat that I put together. I got a lot of the parts for free so all I had to do was make the body. Edited December 9, 2004 by bigdguitars
MikeB
Allright, heres my Randy Rhoades Flying V. Spec: 25 fret neck medium fretwire custom inlay positions flamed maple fretboard brass nut JSB surface mount non-tremolo bridge mightymite motherbuckers (these totally rule, and are pretty quiet, i will post a recording using them very soon) 1 Vol 2 Tone 3 way selector 2 tone bypass switches the finish is a green dye to black burst. it is laquered with poly. i had this complete at the end of october, but it wasnt fully setup, and wired, so i held off till now, when i am satisfied that it plays, and functions well. the cavity cover is made from copper clad board, this REALLY improved the hum and inteference. all cavaties are shielded with aluminium sticky foil stuff. it is star earthed, that is earthed all from one point, to remove any earth loops (which is unlikely at this voltage and current, but why the hell not!) the V is slightly different from randys as it has 25 frets, but the dimensions are different too, the curve is more sweeping, and the bevels are more pronounced. the "pointy bit" is longer, and sharper. it has been gigged once, and played to death EVERY day!! i love this thing! Excuse the dust and whatnot on the front there, its hard to keep clean in my messy room! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/rea...ed/3guitars.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/rea.../Vneckfront.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/rea...speed/Vneck.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/rea...teandbridge.jpg hope you like it! a tutorial may be in its infant stages atm, so i should have one up soon! daveq
Well, I never thought I would do this but here I go: This is an Ibanez shaped guitar (built from scratch) with the following:Two piece alder body5/16" quilt top (bent at arm rest)Birdseye/bubinga/ebony/bubinga/birdseye neck with curly maple headstock10 to 16" compound radius ebony fretboard with sterling silver inlayEMG 81/SA/85 (B/M/N) pickups with 5-way selectorOFR shimmed to about 18" radius6100 fretsThe finish is actually an emerald'ish blue/green although the pics mainly show the blue for some reason. It also has a fade to black on the edges. It's no LGM - I know . eddiewarlock
OK I'll enter my modified BC Rich warlock bronze, on of course, modded guitars, I replaced it's plywood body for a new mahogany body, the only pieces left of the original warlock were the neck, bridge and volume knob. Since i don't like bolt ons, I glued the neck down to the body, I also gave it a camo paint job, and it's got a single seymour duncan SH-6 distortion humbucker, the pot is a di marzio 500K pot, and a switchcraft jack http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd...warlockcopy.jpg
