HiTone Classic solid body

I've completed a new instrument. It's a smaller version of the HiTone Classic and a solid body. The reason I made it smaller was to fit in a regular size case. I made the body out of basswood and ran the strings through the body. This combination has an amazing tone. It's vibrates like a piano. You can hear the sound straight through the body. With the P-90's, this guitar is ready to rock. I also used the Grover open-back tuners. They really give the instrument that vintage and classic feel.

Specs:

Body - Basswood

Neck - maple set-neck

Fretboard - Rosewood

String-through

Sunburst lacquer finish

MOP/Abalone Inlays

Hardware:

Grover 18:1 Sta-Tite Guitar Machines

P-90 Pickups

I wanted Matt to know that he inspired me to build this one. It's the best sounding cigar box guitar I've made to date.

And a sound clip will be here too. It sounds close to a mandolin rather than a banjo. Very strange. You'll see though.

<edit> Soundclip added...

Red Haired Cigar Box

Ok here is my first build and first GOTM entry.

It's a Rebuilt Fender Squier Bullet.

I designed the body shape my self. did all the cutting routing sanding and shaping my self except for the sawing out of the body on the band saw as the owner of the band saw would rather do that himself

but hey I wasn't gong to complain (Band saws kinda scare me) Plus he gave me the wood for it for free! :D

Specs:

BODY: Black Cherry with Tung oil and Wax finish.

NECK: Maple Fender Neck with decals sanded off 25.5 in. scale

Fixed Bridge

5 way switch 2 tone 1 volume

Clear Plastic Pickguard

Someone suggested I post this project here when I finished it two months ago, but when I looked at the other submissions, I was way too intimidated by the competition. :D It's standing the test of time as a player, so I thought I may as well submit it. It started life as a sweet one-piece blank of premium grade Oregon alder.

Lefties are screwed when it comes to guitar options, so I thought I'd make something different. I essentially morphed a Telecaster with a Jazzmaster. Most of the hardware came from an ebay dealer. I went with the Matchmaker P-90s mainly because of the white covers, but they turned out to be the nicest sounding P-90s I've ever had. I went with an Allparts neck this time, but intend to build my own on a future project. Surf Green nitro courtesy of Reranch.
