Hi Pushead,

Spruce is still the #1 tonewood, but Koa is very nice. It sounds good and is not too expensive for this model. (approx $1600 list) I have seen Koa guitars in excess of $5000 on a regular basis. More than anything, I have a "thing" for Koa. I love the looks and feel of it. :D

Later days,

Guitar Ed

Well, I love the figuring of most of the Koa tops I've seen. Is it a brighter sound than spruce?

I just imagine it's like the mohogany tops and a bit warmer than spruce. I'm just getting into accoustics. I have a mid 70s Gibson J-55, which feels too big to me, and I guess I'm looking for something a bit different.
