OK, I have not entered something here for a loooong time. This is a Tele/Strat/LP junior type of hybrid. Let’s call it the Las Vegas Special

The body is swamp ash, the neck is American maple with an ebony fretboard and it is equipped with jumbo frets. The inlays are custom made “casino” inlays (hence the knick name “the Las Vegas Special”). The finish is a see through vintage tinted white and the pickguard is a single ply tortoise. The same material is also used to top the pickups, all custom made by myself.

The hybrid part comes from a lot of things. It is obviously a Tele. But the body has the thickness of a Strat (with belly cut and arm bevel), the scale is 25”, there are three pickups in Strat configuration and then there are the pickups themselves. The pickups are a T90 in the bridge and two S90 in mid/neck. Those are all constructed like P90 but remodelled to fit in a Tele bridge/Strat pickguard slot. They are wound to 12000 respectively 10000 turns of 42AWG and they use ceramic magnets for strength and size. The output is equal to a P90.

The sound is a great mix of Tele snap and LP junior punch. It also removes some of the ice-picking treble that sometimes appears in a Tele (that I dislike but some of you for sure love).

This guitar was used on a demo for a song entered in the national part of the European Song Contest (the Europeans know for sure what that is). This is the song with terrible over all sound (who stole the treble guys?):

Time for me to enter again i think!!

2 very clean entries this month so time for something dirty :D

this is 'The Veteran'

body is korina with a spalted maple top

neck is 1-piece indian rosewood with maple skunk stripe

Hardware has all been heavily distressed and then aged for an old wartorn look

Trans black finish has been left unpolished to do as it will. I imagine it will shine up in some areas and stay dull in other helping the distressed look of the guitar.

Pickups are a Bare Knuckle Pickups calibrated Miracle Man set - they sound awesome, especially for metal stuff!!

hi there people!

This is my second build , I call her 'ESPERANZA' because I made this guitar while I was expecting the time to pass so I can be hired at the hospital. I am a young physician. I used a chisel to double carve the top and back and to hollow out half of the guitar. The guitar is made out of ONE large piece of african mahogany. YES it s one piece, no glued parts (except for the rosewood fingerboard). I hollowed half the guitar using a chisel and rubber hammer through the f-holes ,the jack hole and the small back plate.

The guitar has sweet sustain and great resonance! The sound unplugged is almost acoustic! No feedback problems though, this guitar can rock out and give sweet overtones!!

To sum up Esperanza has:

-ONE piece african mahogany (no glued parts body and neck are from the same uncut piece of wood)

-Wilkinson gold aluminum wraparound bridge which also functions as a normal bridge because i added string through construction ferrules (adds bottom end and sustain) with locking studs

-Wilkinson gold EZ lock tuners

-Schaller gold strap lock buttons

-2 cream SEYMOUR DUNCAN vintage p-90 neck and bridge (wax potted with sweeeeet tone )

-golden knobs with green pearl dome

-cream coloured 3 way switch

-the guitar is finished with teak oil which makes it super resonant and the neck carve is fat ,the way i like it.

the strings go either through the body or they can be top loaded to the wraparound bridge!

cheers !

We finally finished this one. This was my second build, that was built in conjuction with my third. I built this for/with my 12 year old son. He helped with gluing and sanding but stayed away from the power tools.

Specs:

Swamp Ash core with Walnut top

Walnut/Flame Maple Neck Lams and ebony board

30.5" scale

Bart pickup wired passive just vol/tone (it's his first bass and I didn't want too many controlls messing him up, there's room to add a pre later)

Some pics of him helping

I thought it would be cool to give this bass some kid mojo, so I suggested my son write some things in between the laminates. It was all up to him what to write. He wrote things like Music, love, no war, Luck, and even wrote Green Day rules.......he he, what an 12 year old!

Writing on the lams

That's my boy!

He's gonna have fun!

He's helping with the glue too!

Helping with the neck glue

We got plenty on there!

All glued and clamped
