Perhaps the tabs on the DiMarzios could be ground back on a grinder or using a file, rather than hogging out more of the guitar? Putting other pickups in, in the future would leave larger gaps. Just a thought. Another very clean build. You've a good sense of highlighting contour and shape using contrast, so your builds are a joy to watch develop. Thank you! And being a dentist sucks, i don;t like it, that's why i build guitars in my spare time Maybe when i move to Sweden i could actually buy guitars instead of building them. I'll comission one to you From what I've been told, Pori (closest city to here, second is Rauma) has the most aggressive population of Finland. Porilaisten Marssi doesn't surprise me. Plenty of teeth getting knocked out there on Saturday nights I bet. The lack of tooth decay in Scandinavia (Finland is Nordic) is probably down to hygiene and constant chewing of Xylitol (Birch sugar) gum after meals. Yeah, removing a little wood from the nut area won't be too hard. I don't want to use those metal shims if I can avoid them. The pickup is not too wide that way, the tabs fit. It's the sides running parallell to the polepiece rows that would need to be ground back and that's not a good idea... Anyway, it's just less than 1 mm that has to be taken away. I won't even have to rout it, I could use coarse sandpaper or a file and get it done. I could probably get the pickup in now too, but getting it out again would be interesting... I had a problem a few years back with pickup sizes, specifically with some crazy BC Rich "own" pickups from an 80's/90's Mockingbird. I took a piece of mahogany, a piece of white binding and a piece of ebony (instead of dyed black mahogany) and glued them together. Then I shaped it into a switch tip.
