This contest is open to any and all members that enter and will be continued each month for a place showing your creation on the homepage! The winner(s) of course will have his/her guitar featured on the homepage of Project Guitar.com and if you have a website the picture will link directly to it if you so choose (even commercial site's). If your a forum member you will also be upgraded to a Featured member which allows you to see the Advanced Chat section and download area. So show us your creation in this thread! You've got till sometime around the 24th or 25th of January then this thread gets locked and the voting starts! Any Post that is not an entry will be deleted, feel free to start a new thread to discuss any guitar entered this month There may be more then one poll to determine winners in different catagorys at the end of this contest! Please post a maximum of your 4 best pictures per guitar entered Make sure Your Guitar has a Name or Nick Name as well otherwise one will be given to it Side note, if you are unable to post a picture you can e-mail one to Brian and it will be posted for you, or ask forum members how to post pictures, they are very helpful. bigdguitars Posted December 30, 2010 Report Share Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Been a long time since I have been on here. Moved and had another baby so guitar time is limited at best. I built this guitar to resetup shop. Took about six weeks in all. I documented the whole process on youtube. Take a look here for the vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/thebigdguitars?feature=mhsn This is a Les Paul Style Guitar with a 5A Flame Maple top and a two piece african Mahogany Neck and 1 Piece Back. Ebony Fretboard with block inlays and PRS Pickups and of course one of my varitone switches. The Guitar is finished in Tru-Oil about 6 coats in all. I wetsanded with Linseed oil after the 3rd coat and then added thin layers after that. I was going to buff and add some wax but its got a nice sheen already so I am going to leave it. I couldn't do Nitro here... Its winter in Chicago and I don't have the time to do it right. This has the black binding and a little bit of Faux flame maple binding since this was a thicker top I could do the effect. Everything was built from scratch except for the inlays I had those laying around the shop. SwedishLuthier Posted January 15, 2011 Report Share Posted January 15, 2011 MorningStar "Italico" Drawing its inspiration to some extent from Gretsch, but even more from various obscure Italian guitars from the late 60s and early 70s (hence the name), this MorningStar received a great looking green metallic/flake finish with Art Deco attribute in the shape of DeArmond inspired pickups, custom made pick guard and matching hardware. The neck from flame maple was laminated with graphite reinforcement and the body was made from light weight alder. All in all it is a light, resonant guitar that, with its SuperSonic pickups have a clear yet warm sound that really cuts through. A guitar that neither looks, nor sounds like anything else. Mission: take the flag of Sardinia(a little paradise in the middle of mediterranean sea), a nuraghe (an ancient sardinian stone building), a pintadera (ancient die for bread decoration) and the Sardinia itself, and buil a guitar with all this elements...
