iluvteles
Very slow progress but I've done a little bit today. Milled the angle at 12.5 degrees. I was aiming for 13 but close enough. Then clagged it together ready for tomorrow where I'll mill the top flush.

iluvteles
Yes the Wenge and Padauk go well together
iluvteles
Took the clamps off and skimmed the top flush Then I done the truss rod channel I'm happy with this build so far. Had nothing major yet.
iluvteles
Today I've cut and planed the fretboard. Its Cocobolo to match the body top. Its nice but I was hoping it would be a bit lighter. I've also glues two ears onto the headstock as I needed another 5mm a side.
iluvteles
I'm cracking on with this neck. Profiled out and just needs the headstock sanded to final shape. I've tried the neck in the template and its slack by 0.1mm. It must be the cheap router bits I use as the neck template and neck pocket template are a push fit. iluvteles
No progress to report except the post man delivered two gold EMG's and a Schaller combination bridge.
iluvteles
I've decided to change the Cocobolo fretboard to Wenge just to add a bit of contrast. The Coco will either be used on another built or ebay.
supplebanana
i agree Lee - as much as the 'bolo looks good, it's too "samey". any way some great building weather we're having here - unfortunately it's turning more into "drinking" weather at my house not helped by the fact that it's allowing us to acclimatise a little before setting off for Greece on Tuesday! any way keep up the good work! iluvteles
Aye the weather is great at the moment just in time for night shift weekend!!!!!!!! The Cocobolo is a great fretboard but you are right its just a tad bit much of the same thing. Wez surgessted black ebony but I had the Wenge in stock and also the neck is a laminate of Padauk and Wenge so I think it all ties in. Enjoy your jollies in Greece. I'm away to Corfu in August
HuntinDoug
I kind of like the "continuity" of the cocobolo board. It would look good with black binding, and wenge inlays of some sort.
iluvteles
HuntinDoug..Thats what I was thinking in the original design. Continuity and also because Coco is very hard to get a hold off in the UK I decided to go over the top with it. Now I'm starting to like the Coco again. So I'm putting it to a little vote. Wenge or Coco???
pauliemc
Wenge board. I rekon the coco is cool, but there will be too much of it here. Use the wenge for some contrast & save the coco board for another guitar.

iluvteles
OK no more debate. The coco is out and the wenge will be getting clagged on.
Diffidentia
For the contrast go with the wenge.
maull
I have to agree with the masses. Wenge to add contrast.

iluvteles
Here we go no more messing about. Centerlines done. Tape to catch any glue splat. A bit of Tightbond Original and clamp away.
