mairj40
It's a laminate top. I'll keep everyone updated. I lost a couple days on it because my garage door opener on my "shop" quit working, and I couldn't get into it. Lol. I was able to get a couple coats of the black on it though. Next, I'll probably sand the finish smooth and clear coat it.
mairj40
I got the black base coat applied. It was a bit rough in spots, so I wet sanded with 400 grit. Waiting for the new rosette. Once it comes in I'll be able to install it and then get to spraying the clear.
mairj40
I got the new rosette on, and a couple coats of clear. Once all the clear is on, I will let it sit for a couple weeks and then wet sand and polish it. Edited December 22, 2014 by mairj40
guitar2005
He he he... I think that looks awesome and reminds me of the La Patrie Hybrid in black.

The new rosette has a pearl effect to it. It's pretty neat.
mairj40
Here it is with the tape removed. I'm going to scuff the sides and back and polish them when I sand and polish the top. This is the whole reason I wanted to save the guitar. I love the headstock.
ScottR
Awesome headstock. The whole thing is looking good now. SR
mairj40
Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting it all polished up and ready to go.
guitar2005
Those Gianninis are great guitars and with a headstock like that, I'm sure that it used to be a higher end model. A new handmade Giannini classical is pretty expensive today. You have a nice guitar there.

A new handmade Giannini classical is pretty expensive today. You have a nice guitar there. I played a used one at Guitar Center. They were asking $350 for it. I don't really know how to play a classical guitar. I've never had one before. So, I'm trying to decide whether to keep it and learn to play it, or sell it. mairj40
Well, I got it all strung up. It sounds pretty good, considering the amount of work I had to put into it.
