bancika
Hi, any advice on installing the binding around armrest contours? It will be a gentle contour, but still, I'm concerned about getting the binding to follow it. Something like this Thanks!
Ripthorn
If you make a floating binding jig for your router, it will follow it just fine. It's a very common build for guys who do Les Pauls. I didn't do one for my LP, but it's considered standard fare on a Les Paul forum. I'm sure someone here has pictures and has made one as well. bancika
Thanks for the reply. Routing is one part, but installation also worries me. Will the binding follow contour if it's not straight? cheers Edited January 20, 2015 by bancika
LightninMike
Yes it will. Use a little heat and pre-bend the binding. you will probably want to use a small piece to get the process down first before doing it on the final install. Remember that a little heat goes a long way and you can scorch the binding if you are not careful.
demonx
There are several binding jigs built for acoustics that will do this.
