I've done that myself! I'm unsure on how best to do it here on a solid top, if at all. I guess you could use aluminium foil as a heat shield and a small pen torch to selectively toast areas. Do-able, definitely. I don't have a pen torch, but it's an idea to table.

Scott is usually on the mark with such things....if anybody can just pull something out of wood, they know a thing or two....
