Osorio - The four years gap

Recommended Posts

Hi all

It's been four years of my last post, not that I did came back to see what you folks was doing, but in silence most of times. In this lack of time I travel two or three times around the country working in my day job. Made a post degree, and begin my master of science, but even working at the shop, but with setup and fixes. Builds I had to brake a little in this gap of time. Hope find all you guys well and healthy. In this post I'll try to get you update of my little builds and some  works.

Heres a ZW tribute ....

Hei Alessander! It has been a while, but it's always good seeing old faces back on the grounds when the builds get going. How many builds have you got under your belt now? Your work has improved a lot, and these are exceptional builds. Very clean and well-appointed.

I hope you're well and life is good over in Ilha do Vera Cruz!

Thanks guys, it's good to be back! I'd like to participate more, looking and comenting all posts on the forum, but time still short.

Now I building two twin guitars ESP based, but 7strings with multi-scale frets (28-25'').

Both used same woods, Ceddar for body back, Imbuia (kinda wallnutt) body to and headplate, Rosewood fretboard and Marfim neck.

One, the owner send me the hardware. Seymour Duncan pickups, Schaller bridge and machine heads. The other had no hardware yet, thinking to wound the pickups myself, Hipshot monorails and Gotoh machine heads.

Here some pics:

Yes, new screws for each saddle. At this point I have two major questions in mind. Nut - with angle or not (zero fret needed). Pickups - in angle or not - this its bugging me. My client want with, but the poles alignment makes the aspect terrible and I don't know if pickup will sound good at the end.

Tks folks!! Like I said before, with my master of science running, time is short. In fact I usualy use fridays to work on my builds only. My production is smaller than some years ago. Now I'm more rigorous with the final result of my work. Trying to choose special projects to do. It's creating a culture that I'm a specialist in vintage or restorarion instruments here. Even more and more old and broken instruments arrive at shop to make a setup or restoration. So the builds keeps at second place sometimes. If you take a look at instagram will see some 50, 60 and  70's instruments.

Amen, I was going to point out those as well. I also love the body carves and that bridge surround you made. Lovely work and you need to come around a bit more often, Alessander. We love seeing your work!

I like the creative approach to some multiscale-specific thing here: compoung scarf? who needs one, I'll just do a normal scarf and tweak the fretboard edge. Also a cool solution on the other side too! (bridge end of the fb)

And the bridge - is that wilkinson saddles attached to a wooden block with custom screws threaded into the holes where intonation screws normally live? that would be another novel solution! Will it work ok with no baseplate however?

Tks pankara, some ideas was collected over the internet from other brands, I just made a mix of then, that think be nice on the project.

I decide to not use the wood bridge, basicly because the volume knob position. If it will be used, a stainless steel plate will be used too.
