ProjectGuitar.com's Guitar Of The Month contest is a showcase for members to exhibit their creations and to vote on their favourites. The contest is open entry for any and all members, new or old. Winner(s) receive a featured article at the head of the ProjectGuitar.com homepage and elevated member status. ProjectGuitar.com receives tens of thousands of unique visitors monthly; Guitar Of The Month is a great way to showcase your creations to the world! Submissions are open throughout the month with public voting open in the last week. Polls close on the 1st of each month. Lastly, if you didn't win a previous month's Guitar Of The Month contest, you are encouraged to enter your build again the next month for a maximum of three consecutive months. Sometimes one entry just hits it out of the park and eclipses everything! Tips and Guidelines Upload a maximum of eight photos for the instrument in your post Ensure that your guitar has a name otherwise we'll make one up ;-) List additional descriptive information specific to the build; for example.... The woods and materials used, especially if there is something unusual in there! Scale length(s) and other specific configuration details Electronics, pickups, etc. Is this your first build, fifth or five-hundredth? A bit of information on your own background as a builder helps give context to your build. Was it built in the garage, at school, work or in your own shop? A summary of the build's history. Was it built for yourself, friend/family or a client? Did you design the instrument and its specifications or was it built to spec? What were the inspirations behind the instrument and why were various build aspects chosen? Any background on what makes it special? Posting a link to your guitar-building website, Photobucket, Facebook, etc. is fine, even if it is your business. In the spirit of fairness towards less experienced builders, we encourage professional builders to consider whether their entries constitute being "fair". Commercial "standard" models are not a valid entry, guys....Guitar Of The Month is about unique and characterful builds, not rubber-stamped production units! We reserve the right to pull entries that are thinly-guised adverts; ProjectGuitar.com is about community, sharing build processes and the exchange of ideas - not a vehicle for adverts by members that don't engage with the community. If you documented your build in the forums, post a link to the thread; instruments with a build thread shared tend to attract more votes from the general community. In our experience this is the biggest attractor of votes. ProTip: Voters vote with their ears as well as their eyes....if you have any soundclips of the instrument or even a YouTube video, do post it! Everybody loves to look at beautiful instruments, but hearing them demo'ed is 10x as important. ----==---- Unsure what to write? Andyjr1515 Posted December 13, 2017 Report Share Posted December 13, 2017 OK - I'm going to bank on that everyone is far too busy with Christmas preparations to enter this so, being the only entry, I might win It's another go with my previous entry 'Impish Challenge' This is the 6-string electric, built for Tim (whose name tag on another forum is impmann and hence the name). Tim took ownership of it last week and he is, in his own words 'over the moon'. He loves it I am a hobby builder with my first full build around 5 years ago. More recently, I have started taking on bass and guitar commissions in addition to building for my own use and fellow band-members. After a series of bass builds, it has been nice to go back to a 6-string build. Tim's spec / my result (as usual with my builds, sometimes two different things) was: 25.5" scale, 6-string Style to have passing nod to Alembic's wonderful '80's six stringers Low weight, chambered (finished weight 6lb 12oz) Camphor Laurel top; Sapele back; Wenge demarcation veneer Maple/purpleheart/mahogany/purpleheart/maple neck; figured ebony fretboard Alegree Custom stacked P90's Schaller Hannes piezo bridge Schaller 'flagShip' piezo/magnetic mixer-preamp Magnetic control chamber and trussrod covers The build diary is here. pan_kara Posted December 17, 2017 Report Share Posted December 17, 2017 Finally finished my strat build, so I'm adding it to this month's edition. Here is "Strat-Thru". Built at home for myself. I think counting various re-builds and parts-caster things this is my build #10 or thereabouts. The recipe: take a really cheap Strat copy saw off everything except the body perimeter take some scrap wood, get some hardware and build it back into something that looks like a Strat but only if you're far away The specs: some unidentified body wood (possibly pine) mostly ovangkol neck going "almost thru" the body (finishes somewhere behind the bridge), also pieces of merbau, purpleheart and some maple rosewood fingerboard with a 25.5-23.4 fan, MOP dot markers E standard tuning with a high A string added (7 strings) 3x custom Merlin Pickups single coils wired in series with individual on/off/phase switches (via 3x on/on/on dpdt), 1x volume, 1x tone ABM single string bridges, v-parts tuners, dunlop 6105 fretwire Magic marble swirl finish The pics: And here's a demo video that I quickly put together, sorry for the tuning and the playing, I literally only had a few minutes to film this quickly before leaving for the Christmas break. During this time I concentrated on developing my hardware until last release about one month ago. Meantime I have worked into my own guitar design, changing some details from my last build, such as lower horn shape and jack position and make some tries by using or not zero fret to understand which is the best option in my opinion. Probably this time I'm really close, except some minor technical details, to the final version of my own design. I've build three different prototype versions and I want to give a chance this month to this seven strings,.
