Danstinyexplorer
Here’s a new little toy I’ve been chipping away at. It’s a mahogany mantle piece mated to a hard maple chair leg! Just thrown it into one piece this morning to check all is well before finer finishing etc. Its for my 11 year old and also fits in our big rucksack so will come camping with us etc. It’s a touch more planned out than my last attempt but still mostly made up as I went along.

Andyjr1515
I like that very much. What scale length is it?

Purely because as somebody who knows next to nothing about the how’s and why’s of guitar building I simply put a tape measure over little mans children’s acoustic guitar and copied the length of that! Danstinyexplorer
I’m thinking I might try and darken up that bright neck, going to have a read about black dyes over lunch. Can anybody give me an insight into wether or not it would stay dark or would I expect to see it gradually reverting back again?
mistermikev
I got pretty dark w a maple neck once... sold that guitar but I must have dyed it 30 times and used a powdered dye that I almost mixed very heavy. I think our finishing experts here would likely tell you to first sand with 220 or even 120 and then add dye... to get it deep in the pores. Danstinyexplorer
This little pup got rebirthed! The body shape got tweaked a little, made a pick guard, stuck a tone knob on, fitted a new fretboard and by pulling the bridge back a couple of inches and refretting it was able to turn it from a 19.5” scale to a 22” scale. I made a new bridge that is still having its design tweaked. I cleaned up the control cavity, insulated it better and sink the pickup a little deeper into the body. It sounds all twangy and nice now
