MKGBass
whered you get those decals printed anyway?
BeAR
Local print shop. Laser printing is great, it doesnt smudge when you soak them in water and then clear over them.
BeAR
Body is now primed and the repair looks good. Hopefully when its painted there wont be any trace of the neck pickup routing either. So far so good.

macmacaholic
Is that Floyd just sitting on the top (ie NOT recessed)?
GuitarMaestro
Is that Floyd just sitting on the top (ie NOT recessed)? It SHOULD be that way....at least ED's floyds are not onstalled for upward movement. On all of ED's guitars the floyd rests on the body.... ikke_998
that neck looks awsome!! thats gonna be one killer guitar!
Metalluthier
Would the fill in stuff deaden out your tone at all? I mean, the tonal waves need to be able to move freely. Would it damage the tone at all?
BeAR
Im sure some people are going to say it will, but I just dont buy it. Im sure it will resonate just fine. Besides, with a high output humbucker and distortion, I bet no one will ever notice. Ive owned plywood body guitars that sounded fantastic with decent pickups, so Im not too concerned. litchfield
And its an EVH replica. EVH used plywood, basswood, and whatever he found at Kramer. His Ibanez was swampash

BeAR
Haven't had much chance to work on it this week, Ill get the body painted in base coat white next monday or tuesday, then its time to fit the hardware up and drill the neck. Once Im happy with the setup, Ill tear it apart again and finish the paint job with the stripes and then the clear.

Mine has a thin layer of clear but it's sanded to 1000 and not polished
BeAR
Hey Scott, Im not sure about the clear yet. Your method might be the way to go. Dont suppose you can post some pics? Wouldnt mind seeing what that method looks like.

Maiden69
If you were going for a real replica, I will say like scott, no clear, or a thin layer then sanded so it will look like a used beater. But I don't know about you, after all the work put into the guitar, I will do as many coats as possible, the more depth the guitar shows the better, also it will protect were the colors meet, the reason some of Eddie's guitar lines looks faded and others don't is because he probably didn't used much clear either.
