  1. Slow on the updates, I've been working on other guitars. The fretboard is radius and ready for frets. This will have jescar EVO Gold. Adult this little jig a while back and it's really helped with radiusing. The jig itself screws directly to my table, with threaded inserts. Then I screw the neck to the jig also using threaded inserts in the jig. Then I use a wedge on the left side to ensure that it's centered on the radius block.
  2. Well if you decide to do it, extra long drill bits are about 12* at home depot.
  3. how big is the hole? Must be super small if that wire wont fit
  4. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385532750053?hash=item59c38ae8e5:g:SbkAAOSwmCVkMGxU&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8DGMHJdZmNJHRBvw8H2vIuV7S1Xhsdr9Kwzr6Jda%2FV%2BXASI%2FGZxgjdWEPowicPkwdxMr4K30fU2adx2lO5AcPDfiwH9kGpc%2BQiqe9S3EGTjpbe2Z49A8naqut8J7vQptAetLwD14bdyMiFBxo1lSbT%2BhgLXzr3ghUr%2Bnm9yPcmlSLKFtD5UdbOeByyD2o48pcFA6OPZozHNICYrcFiCwxrCAoxdlkTsCuzW89I25G6kErx1sTDgbgh7pLyVtUO%2FZf6RnhvBHe0W4r0Kj%2BQjxESK3xSYs7R5v46gpQvCPM4%2B8TM0Sg1yGf0LGVP6yp3dWRA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7S7gdf8Yg
  5. thats wild. Pre covid, hipshots were 55$ a set plus free shipping in black.
  6. hipshot locking, either staggered or non staggered are 65$ plus free shipping on ebay. for black anyway. gold is probably 8$ more
  7. thats crazy. Even hipshot locking are only 65 shipped and staggered is not a markup.
  8. You were charged extra? ive never seen them be more expensive.
  9. Ive tried those staggered tuners before and the longer strings will still need a string tree unfortunately
  10. Missed photographing some steps on the neck. Completely got caught up in working on it. Neck is cut to shape, tuners drilled, headstock thicknessed. Carbon fiber and truss rod channels routed . I also recently started chamfering all holes slightly. It's been a game changer with sanding and finishes.
  11. i would cut the height of that nut down about half. Only about half the bass string should be inside the slot.
  12. I havent filled or stabilized it at all yet. I do sometimes get a little bit of glue seepage but i didnt on this one. What i normally do, is do my wash coat of dye for grain popping, then i fill the pinholes. I do it in that order because if you use CA before the dye wash coat, some spots wont take the dye.
  13. Even if you dont woodwork, having a lot of wood is never a bad thing! matching the grain on a burl bookmatch is a pain. its just not very symmetrical compared to other figured woods. But it'll do, it'll do
  14. Body blank glued up. Got a killer in visible glue line. I see a lot of builders, high end included, that have horrible glue lines on top woods. If it is black or dark in the center, it's a bad glue line. I also have found that sanding the top and back is so much easier before you cut it to size. That way there are no points or edges that get rounded over or to slip off of. This sanded is an off brand but it was still 200$. Best purchase ever. It is gear driven so it doesn't bog down, and actually sands flat unlike those soft backed hardware store oribital sanders
  15. Thank you sir, i hope you are doing well! As much burl as you use, im surprised thats all you see wait until you see the woods wet!
  16. 7 piece roasted flame maple, paduak and purpleheart with maple stringers glued up
  17. From an engineering/ scientific standpoint. What will make a stiffer neck? a 1/4" x 1/4" square carbon fiber rod, or the standard 1/8" x3/8" rod?
  18. It's been YEARS since I've documented one single build from start to end. It's time to change that! I'll be documenting this step by step with pictures and videos Here's what we have so far. Premium grade maple burl Light roasted flame maple neck ( 5 other pieces to be decided) Black limba body Fretboard to be decided
