  1. Dang! Some really nice guitars everybody, well done. It's an honor even getting votes with the competition this month. I had to vote for Toddler's, that thing is beautiful.
  2. Absolutely...that's how I feel about the color choice...thank you...
  3. Oh you found it! Right on thanks for combining them...it'd been so long I forgot that thread existed... It's a piece of fabric glued on. Now you can see the difference between the in progress shot on the first page of this thread and the finished shot. I know on this forum the feelings were mixed on the red...I don't think there was really any other way to go with it...other forums agreed completely on the red...*shrug*...
  4. I think you should go with the purple, that'd look good with the blue. Do a slight burst on the edge of the front and back...
  5. My first entry as well for GotM...this is my second refinish. It's an asian landscape with a "Red Fog" setting in... Notice here how the graphic of the body moves seamlessly into the pickguard graphic. Those were refinished separately of course. And the matching headstock.
  6. Been a little while but this baby is done. I'll edit and add more pics soon...
  7. I like that body shape, def. more of a "bass" look but on a guitar I think it'll be really unique. Ya know I liked the ball ends on both horns, but it did seem really fragile so that would have been tough to work with. Still looks pretty good. Nice work!
  8. Yea that does look like a unique V design, I like it...
  9. Holy cow...that's looking awesome. I'm just following all of this right now, this is the first time i've seen this whole project and it's amazing watching it come together. Like most I was curious about the shapes of the body and headstock at first but once u started carving them I was completely sold on the design, looks fantastic. Love that carved look, especially great for bass. Well done all around.
  10. That's so crazy to hear you guys talk about Grizzly, I live just a couple towns from where it's at and my buddy at work has been tellin me to go there for the last year or more because of all the cool they have for guitars. I still have not made it in, shame on me.
  11. I like the mock up you made. The flower design is cool, def. go with that. Actually I think a brown guitar with the black design u made would look sweet.
  12. Thanks for your opinions everyone...I'll leave the jury open on applying color to the pickguard for now, still not quite sure...
  13. Wow I've never seen a piece of wood that gorgeous! That looks fantastic. I wouldn't do anything with it color-wise, you mentioned bursting in hunter green....don't do it. Black hardware on that baby'll look fantastic. Keep it natural...so amazing...Well done...
  14. Think so? See the color for the sides and burst (I like doin a burst I think it blends into the graphic nice and looks better *shrug*) was an issue for awhile because I couldn't figure what color to use. The fabric is actually an off white, but not quite beige, so I couldn't find a color that was suitable, white was just TOO white and everything else I found was too dark, so I tried other colors like a light gray and thought about black but wasn't happy with either. My girfriend suggested red and seemed to fit well, it looked good (i thought ) and went with the theme of the graphic. But yea, thanks for the reply.
  15. Wow it seems so simple now, might have to look into that for a future project.
  16. That amber stain looks REALLY good on that wood, the flame looks amazing, like a flag blowin in the wind almost.
  17. **SEE NEXT PAGE FOR FINISHED PIC** I have some progress pix I'd like to share to see what you all thought. This is my 2nd project, I learned an awful lot from the first (floral left handed RG) and learned even more working on this one, but I think it's turning out much better already. Body with matchin pickguard: Honestly, it was so difficult trying to match up the fabric for the pickguard to blend in(cuz I cut the fabric at different times) that I was pleasantly surprised it lined up so well. Keep in mind the pickguard has only a few coats of SS and has not been sanded at all yet. For the pickguard, I also think i'll do a burst around the bottom edge so it matches the rest of the body, what do you guys think? And obviously, nothing has been clear coated. EDITED: Didn't know the picture posting rules, sorry bout that.
  18. Nice work on both of those bodies. I especially like the hollow body explorer, I look forward to seeing how that turns out.
  19. This guitar has been relisted with a lower price and more premiums. You can check it out by following this link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7404028076 Thanks for looking.
  20. That's cool I think I'll enjoy watching this guitar come together.
  21. Haha yes nitefly you're spot on...it's going to be difficult lettin it go
  22. Thanks...it's a fabric finish. This one is done. It's the first time I tackled a finish so i'm sure there are things to improve on. Like for example after I was done I read about very in depth ways to finish a guitar which required more resources than I had at the time, like mulitple wet sands like u say and multiple polishes and whatnot....I finished with numerous coats of clear and sanded in between, then a final coat all around and it ended very smooth and glossy so I was happy with it. Thanks for your comments.
  23. Check out this custom Ibanez RG on ebay. Nice floral print finish. Great for you lefties. So like, maybe three of you . http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
