  1. hi Jeremy, can you tell me if this is still for sale and if so how much it would cost to ship to melbourne australia!? Cheers
  2. Hey J Great to see you doing so damn well dude! With your talent I guess that was enevitable anyways! Good luck in the new shop!
  3. Rye I'd definately put humbuckers on that mustang!!!!!! That would be cool! Actually I did finish the guitar and yeah if I was keeping it I'd definately be doing some kind of airbrush thing on it! but I have a UV1000MC on layby at the guitar shop so I decided to put the flame on evil bay australia. I sold my old one about 2 months agoand boy do I miss it! At the moment flame is at the guitar shop getting a pro setup ready for whoever buys it. Fenders just aint my thing whatever they look like! But that mustang sure sounds like a decent guitar! However before I send it off to whoever buys it I'll take some better pic of it and post them up here! cheers
  4. Thanks rye!!!!! jeeeezzzz you fender guys are touchy!! hahaha I have to admit the fender is and always has been the benchmark for guitar design of the modern age... the reason I did what I did to mine is that I feel like Fender could do more to make its guitars that little bit more visually dramatic.... Yeah I know its a classic design and there is something to be said for that I agree but come on this is supposed to be one of the leading guitar makers in the world and when can you honestly say they last brought out a guitar that really made you stop and go WOW??? I just get the feeling the have become lethargic in what they do... and thats a shame given all the talent they must have working for them. So I guess this was just a poke in the eye really... I'm not taking about playability here as fender does do an excellent job as always... I'm taking pure snap knicker elastic at fifty paces dramatic effect... anyways I'll take the mustang dude!!!!!!
  5. hahahahahaha alex you killed me man... I was in tears from laughing!!!!! Yeah LGM I got the idea from Steve Vai's flame guitar I have to be honest! But I think it just works really well... TSL don't get cut man... Its not my fault all fenders are soooooo damn ugly! If you were to burn the entire Ibanez factory to the ground they would still be a sexier guitar than the strat! ( Yeah I am a mad man trying to start world war three! ) hahaha! Anyways I'm glad so many of you liked it... I dont really hate fenders that much... after all they burn really well in my wood burning stove... keeps the house nice and cosy!!!!! mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa mwaaaaaaaaaaa Ah and by the way for those interested... It sounds great... It plays with the feel of an ibanez at the upper frets now but still has the usual creamy fender tone... bags of sustain... and a really mellow middle! Well pleased! :o
  6. You have my very deepest respect, anyone willing to kill a fender deserves respect LOL I completely agree... I think I've hated fenders pretty much all my life LGM. Its very liberating to destroy them. I think fender should build all there guitars like this!!!!! haha! poo alex!
  7. HEY ALEX WHATS WRONG WITH BEING A PERVERT????? Actually its really great to play as well... you have excellent access to to upper frets and its as light as a feather now!! Wait till you see what I'm doing to my telecaster!!!!! hahahahahahaha the dogs are still barking.... scarey.
  8. See now here is what happens when the dull thud of boredom that is a sunday morning comes along and kicks you in the head... I woke up today... looked at the poor shapeless strat sitting in the corner of the room and thought.... hmmmm what devastation can I do to that in 12 hours??? So I promptly got out the sander and bandsaw.... and below is the result. All up it took exactly 12 hours... I think its actually kinda funky!! And although its only got a base coat on and still needs lots of work I thought I'd let you all know how its gone today... Boredom is a dangerous thing!!!!! Ignore the smug me! Sorry for the really bad pics but I'm reduced to using the webcam again... Digital camera got left in the UK... along with my complete respect for what was a fender strat... ahha! mwa mwa mwa mwa!!!!!! lee
  9. Hey all. Well last night I finally put my first "self Build" amplifier together and gave it the finishing touches. Its a 100W head with a completely custom 4 x 12 cab. It got me thinking... since were all into guitars here there isnt much about actually building a simple amplifier... So is anyone interested in knowing how? I have some plans for various designs including all the wiring diagrams which I'm quite happy to send to you brian if your interested in finding somewhere in the tutorial section for them? Also I'm looking at building an acoustic amp next which I'll do a short tutorial for if you like? Just thought I'd test the waters... seems a shame were all building guitars and yet I found putting my own amp together a heck of a lot easier than building my first guitar!!! And at least its exactly the way I want it for the fraction it would cost to buy some of the high end amp's these days!!!! cheers! lee
  10. Thanks again for all the advice guys! LGM I found a cool product usually used in aircraft stipping called Nitromorse.. it kicks ass! However I just decided to go buy a new orbital and attack it the normal way on the back and front. But the Nitro kicked ass on the sides and heels and removed all the paint down to wood within about 20 mins! Well happy! Having already learned the perils of using a planer I'd say yeah try it once... but once is all you'll want to do! Cheers all. I'll post some pics when its done! Lee
  11. Thanks Brian! Do you know how good / bad it is as a wood for tonal qualities???
  12. Hey guys... was shopping the other day and bought another project! ( Yep too many projects too little time again!!! ). But this one has an interesting neck... the colour is really dark brown! It's a Abilene neck from a cheap strat copy and I have no idea what type of wood it is! Now I'm pretty sure its just gonna be cheap and nasty but I'm interested to find out what it is! Cheers for any help guys!
  13. Ok so I've got this cheap strat... and clever old me tried chemical stripping it... basically this sucks!!!!! The chemical is called Citrusstripper and its hard to work with... dosent really penetrate at all and makes one hell of a mess!!!!! Has anyone used any types of chemical stripper that actually do work??? If so can you please let me know the brands!!!!!! Also is there any particular theory of doing this? I swear next time I'm just going the traditional sanding route... oh well had to try.
  14. Hey Alex! I just scored a fender strat from a pawn shop yesterday and spent last night taking her to bits... $150! AU Cheap eh??? That finish is seriously cool so I'm gonna have a go at doing it myself! Thanks for the inspiration dude!!!!! keep em comin! Lee
  15. Jeremy... seriously... if the yanks dont let ya in with that... **** man come to australia!!!!!!!! Thats a killer axe man. Congrats
