  1. Ah cheers for that mate. Basically I will be giving my first guitar a go in about a months time. I have to put up a new shed between now and then...lol. So at the moment I am gathering as much info as possible. The only things I coun't find much info on was how to shape a neck contour (all sorted now though), and the electronics mounting styles, as everyone seems to skim over that. I worked out how the front mounting works, as I pulled my guitar to bits to take a look, just never seen a rear mount. The other thing that I was a bit sketchy on was finishing, but those tuts have cleared everything right up. Good work fellas.
  2. NEITHER. This leads to unsteady hands...lol. Especially when you enjoy a bit of target shooting. But when I am at my real job, at 3am sitting in front of the computer, going though a software design, it's coffee on an IV drip.
  3. Actually I'm using that guitar work bench one. I find it's easyier on the eyes, as opposed to the blinding while and light blue.
  4. Another good info sheet would be the different ways to mount electronics, under pickgaurd, though back etc. It just really has to say where the cavities are, and how to hide the mess (or am I just showing my inexperience...lol).
  5. Brian, Cheers for that, I suspected the router maybe the best way to shape a neck, otherwise I don't like my chances of getting any symetry...lol. And again this site is the best, I actually found it by following a link from www.guitarbuild.com , and havent bothered looking for anyother guitar building sites since....this site has more than I need!!!...haha it has to be said. You guys will see alot of me...lol. I only wish i could give something back, I almost feel guilty. But it's good that's it's free. Cheers, Dylan
  6. Hi, Firstly I would like to mention that this is the best guitar building site I have ever been to. For once I have more information that I have time to read! I am drooling over all the different finishing tutorials. The one thing that I cant seem to find much information on, is how to shape the contuor on the back of a neck. I saw one guy use a router jig, which a though was a good idea as it is nice and accurate. And from what I gather, the fella that wrote the tut for this site carved it using a spokeshave (free handed it). I've never acctually used a spoke shave before, but does it make the job easier than it sounds. How does he get that symetry and smooth shape (is it judgement)? Well any information would be much appreciated, as this is the only area where I am scratching my head. Thanks in advance.
