  1. Finally decided to sell my old explorer and got around to looking up the serial #.... Wound up being made on leap day 1984. Is it only 7 years old? Wonder if some nutty collector will pay extra for that. Never know us guitar people are weird sometimes.
  2. Yeah on closer inspection I noticed a pin in one of the boards. I would hate to buy my friend a new set of planer knives because I was trying to cheap out on wood. just a crazy idea, a coffee table it shal be.
  3. BTW the table is solid, stamped Mar. 1976. I attempted to show the grain by wiping on some alcohol but it kept evaporating before I could take the pic.
  4. Refinishing a coffee table and wonder if it would make a better guitar than a table. Plenty wood for two bodies, but i'm not sure what the wood is. Any suggestions or help w/ ID would be welcome.
  5. And yet, you chastise them in the previous statement... ANYWAY, decent job, the paint color looks good with the blonde neck and I'm sure it sounds awesome! wow,so much for posting here! I thought this site was about guitars.
  6. Thanx for the input. I built this as an Ebay parts project. The paint is duplicolor auto paint, comes in any color you could want. If you don't like the pentagrams that is a matter of personal taste but as a staunch athiest I feel it keeps the christian zealots at bay. Funny, I would never chastise a person for wearing a christian symbol.
  7. Here is my 1st build. Swamp ash tele W/ maple neck. Wanted to metal up the tele so I used humbuckers, GFS lil' puncher in the neck and a Dimarzio fast track in the bridge. deleted the pickguard to lose the country look. wilkerson tuners and my name on the headstock. serial # 0001, guess I can build 1000 more if the psychologist thing don't work out.
  8. hey wammi, can I get a replacement for this locknut. It is on a 84 explorer with a factory kahler, the locknut sucks but I would rather not put any extra holes in my axe.
  9. Nevermind guys, it was a bad pot.
  10. Wow 3 questions in one week. Does anyone know the resistance of the 500xl as compared to the 500R I think my p/ups were mislabeled.
  11. Here you will find almost any wiring scheme imaginable and even if you dont there's enough info here to mix and match and get what you need. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ Thanx I waited forever for my Bill lawrence p/ups, and I cant wait to hear em. I'll try it tonight.
  12. not really, I don't gig anymore. It is in my old explorer and I baby that thing.
  13. 2nd noob question. I need a std wiring diagram for a 2hb 1vol 2tone 3way blade set up. I would like the center position to be the inner coils in parallel. All the diagrams I can find are for toggle switches. Thanx
  14. Hey guys, I have a EMG 81 that is about 5 years old and it seems to be lacking in power. It is not as loud or as sensitive as it was when new, it is quieter than the 85 in the neck. can I test this with a multimeter and what are the correct specs?
  15. Hey Whammi, I have a 84 Explorer with a Kahler trem but I hate the locknut. Is there a replacement that won't put extra holes in my headstock. I love the feel but it won't stay in tune!
