  1. A 1997 Ibanez S470 with Floyd Rose bridge for sale. More pictures available on request. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290638422515
  2. I have an Ibanez wizard neck for sale on ebay, I originally got it shipped from Canada from someone on here I believe, it was about 5 years ago so I can't be sure. Anyway, if anyone is interested the ebay auction is here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290636165550 I am happy to answer any questions or take some close up shots if you need them. International bidders are welcome but ask for postage costs first as I would guess it will be expensive to ship due to its size?
  3. my mates just fitted one in the guitar he's built... its very umm... metal... its got a real chuggy sound, like metallica megadeth type music... great if you do a lot of palm mute and heavy chords, drop D style music... I would imagine it really sucks for anything clean or even slightly distorted... but i cant confirm as I picked it up and ripped out Seek and Destroy... lol, it sounded awesome through his POD and into a beefy 5.1 stereo system
  4. 100, 200, 400 = bass 800, 1.6k = mid 3.2, 6.4k = treble or roughly around that... sorry, cant give no suggestions for set-ups as I dont have that pedal, or any pedal to set EQ's, all my EQ's are done on my amp
  5. I also threw a 486 a few months back... anyways... can you say DOS BOX?? http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php?page=0

    help !

I think this will probably have any diagram you will need: http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/categor...grams.2pickups/ why is everyone making guitars for GCSE and A level? All I made when I did my GCSE technology was a foot stool... lol... and I'm not old that was only umm... 3 years ago?
  7. yeah that ones not bad, but I still have a price budget as I'm a poor student, and I dont know what sort of work my dad plans on doing with it, nothing heavy duty I don't think... just found this on another site: http://www.axminster.co.uk/default.asp?part=AW127R looks quite good to me also... shame you cant go to these places and try them out like you would a guitar before buying it... lol
  8. yeah I saw those Makita ones (will be running off 240v btw) but they're under 1kw and I thought you needed more than 1kw for a router? or thats what I read anyways... which would be better the Makita or the Bosch? you said the bosch was bottom of the line so, dont Bosch make good routers? I know they make some nice hand drills and other stuff
  9. Hey I need a bit of advice with buying a router, yes I know theres been lots of topics on them, and I've read most of them, but I need a little help picking between these two: http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...=60100&id=54737 and http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...=60100&id=72251 The first one has more power, but I've not heard of that brand before... but the 2nd one seems to have guides that would probably be really helpful... I dont know much about routers, and I only want a basic/mid-range one as I only plan to make a few guitars as and when I feel, not go into production or anything... plus my dad is getting into wood working so he's agreed to go halve's on buying a router 1.3kw is plenty enough right? I know I read that less than 1kw isnt powerful enough, but 1.3 is close to that... thanks, I feel dumb when it comes to buying tools also going to get a 10" spokeshave from there and also maybe a 65mm hand rasp
  10. I've used ernie balls since i started playing like 2 1/2 years ago... I dunno why, thats just the ones I've always used... I only ever broke 1 or 2 strings as I change them quite often when they feel and sound nasty... I'm tempted to try D'Addario's soon as you can get them for a little cheaper than Ernie Balls on www.stringbusters.com and I'm all for saving money so might get some to see what the difference is like!
  11. A patent on the colour of something? thats really lame... I mean seriously... I'm gonna get the patent on black t-shirts, then I'll be rich but seriously, how can you possibly patent a colour of an object?
  12. OMG, I love how that guitar is shaping up to look you do know your gonna have to learn a new style of playing to play that thing right? as in... slapping it behind your neck, turning to the crowds and showing that lovely neck off while you solo like a banshee? man I wish I could build a sweet neck like that... maybe in a project or 3... when I have the money to invest in a lot more tools and a little work shed, I dont think I could build my own neck right now unfortunatly I gotta go back and forth to workshops to use tools etc... damn I hate being a poor student! lol but man, keep those pics coming! I love it! I want it to have baby guitars with my guitar (when its finished) lol
  13. damn thats gonna be painful if you smash your knuckle on that thing chugging away looks like a big ass magnet that you slap a wire to... how hard could that be to make?
  14. the upload of avatars is automaticaly built into the forum's code, so it'd need a quick hack I think... personally I wouldnt mind hosting my own avatar... I got my own web-site and its bandwidth is going like 14Gb spare a month at the mo... lol
  15. surely what I'm asking for isn't that complex a wiring diagram is it? =\ I thought it was a pretty standard wiring for a two hum guitar?
  16. Hey I know what wiring I'm after, and I think I've found a diagram to follow, but I just want some peeps to check it for me cus I'm not 100% whether its exactly what I want... Ok here's what I want: (and parts I'm going to use) 3-way LP style switch, 1 volume pot, 1 push/pull tone pot... 2 humbuckers I want, tone normal.... bridge/both/neck pull pot... bridge single / 1 bridge coil, 1 neck coil hum canceling / neck single... here's the diagram I've found that I *think* is what I'm looking for, but not sure about: http://guitarelectronics.zoovy.com/product/WDUHH3T1105 thanks for checking it for me
  17. First off... man I'm in love with that guitar! I've never seen one of those before, but damn, just done a search on them... damn gorgeous... 29 frets!? crazy haha! Seriously I want one of those, but I bet they cost a fortune? =\ anyways onto the tab... your making my curse my poor tiny, not very streachable hands even more than usual that sounds so wickid but even slowly I'm having trouble with it right now... dammit! darn fingers!!
  18. I think I'd rather build from scratch... if you buy a cheap guitar then the quality of all the parts will be cheap... if you put £400 of hardware in a crap piece of wood, say a £100 cheap guitar, is it going to sound as nice as £400 of hardware in £100 of wood you've bought and made yourself? the total cost for my guitar I'm currently making is going to be around £280 + the cost of finishing it... and I'm expecting to to sound a LOT better when its done than my Ibanez that cost me £300 2nd hand, they're about £400 - £450 new...
  19. well... when you play it standing you'll have 10mins playing before the blood isnt getting to your arm and if you play it sitting down for more than 30 mins you'll be paralized from the thigh down have fun with it! lol
  20. my brazilian mahogany weighs a hell of a lot, currently my body weighs a ton, I'm gonna have to shape the edges down a fair bit for it to be playable standing up... although I still have all the routing to do... and isnt African mahogany rather poor quality compared with the other mahogany's?
  21. well to my knowledge, and hopefully someone with more knowledge will back me up or tell your correctly, as I've not fitted my first bridge yet but where you put it depends on the scale length of your neck... but you want to place it maybe a little closer or further away depending on the bridge so you can use the saddles to innotate it perfectly...
  22. Random Squier strat was my first guitar... still have it, but soon giving it to my g/f for her to learn on... current guitar Ibanez S470... and my next guitar is still being built
  23. Decided against that ebay auction... I had bad luck last time, and to be honest, I'd rather get a new neck... got a reply from a place I e-mailed last night: http://www.guitarpartsonline.com/Cart/desc...350217.44.74.30 Nice 24 fret neck, 25.5" scale, maple + rosewood... and only $35 shipping for international... cant go wrong with it really and its a much nicer looking neck, and I really wanted shark fin inlays
  24. yeah theres stuff on Dereks site I'll just have to remove the old nut and mill out the area for it to screw into... shouldn't be too hard a job I guess, I can probably get it all set up on one of the milling machines at University and it'll just do it for me in a few minutes wahoo... I sent the guy an email, asking if he'd be willing to just send the neck, depends how much it goes for... if it dont go up much more then I might get the lot... but £30 for postage on like £40 item is a bit crazy... lol thanks for the help and tips litchfield
  25. I'm extremly tempted... but how easy is it to convert from a normal nut to a locking nut for a floyd rose? =\ thats my only concern as that definitly is a normal nut neck, and I'm going to have a floyd rose, already got the locking nut here... so is it easy to mod? can you mod? arghhh I know so little
