  2. Yep, it's called a CNC - but he did make it himself.
  3. They are indeed very quiet with excellent runout and low vibration. However the collets are a POS, change them for Bosch ones (yes they fit with no modifications) and you'll have (IMO) the best 2hp router there is.
  4. It's still there if you know where to look
  5. I didn't time it but less than an hour, probably around 30-40 minutes for the whole guitar.
  6. I'll save you a Tele sized piece so you'll have to build it
  7. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/136499e6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/e2f2f682.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/627d478b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/61f7e6fb.jpg Lots of reflections in the pics but you get the idea. Neil
  8. It's looking very nice Andy, you must be very excited to finally be getting on with a project.
  9. These guys are very helpful http://www.cnczone.com/forums/index.php
  10. Hi Gian, Yes I use a premium two part Auto poly. I wet sand to 1500 grit taking care not to get water near any exposed wood. Then its over to this Where I use a medium then fine compound working slowly and applying very little pressure. Neil
  11. No Derek, I haven't bought any wood from eBay as yet.
  12. Well blimey it's been a while but these are nearly done. The Tele should be finished next week and the Junior a couple of weeks after. Having a young daughter and building guitars for other people really does take up a lot of time http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/fd9ec271.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/e05cbaa8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...le/36fb8467.jpg Neil
  13. No worries, I'll do my best - I was just looking at your thread funnily enough. If you follow Setchs tutorial and take the time to get the neck angle correct the rest will follow. The carve itself is straight forward enough, just do it slowly and take the time to check the symmetry as you go. Cheers, Neil
  14. You can download plans from the MIMF forum, order them from Stewmac or buy a set of templates from Roni at www.guitarbuildingtemplates.com The Guitar is 2 1/4" thick and the top 7/8". The carve is a full 1/2" which is why it the body looks thinner than a standard Les Paul - they're the same overall thickness at the bridge. I'm so pleased with this one that I'm building another for myself with an insane flame top over a black limba body and neck; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/DSC00560.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/DSC00561.jpg It'll be finished in a charcoal burst with an Ebony binding to the body, Ebony fingerboard and headstock veneer. Thanks for the vote btw.
  15. Just had this from Tim, the new owner Not only is he a superb (and demanding) player, he is of course the guru behind Bareknuckle pickups here in the UK. Made my day
  16. Hmmm, I did not know that Ozark, Arkansas was part of the British Empire. ← It all was once Drak but quite rightly you kicked us out for trying to bleed you dry - as all Colonial powers did back then.
  17. Not the best piece of wood I've ever seen but the nicest I own;
  18. Pah, 32 - you're a Baby Congrats man, funny how kids steal all the limelight* *as it should be
  19. Shoot I don't mind being a two time loser http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/3c55758e.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/408a4f2d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/1e5e3b64.jpg Here are the specs for those interested in that sort of thing; Big leaf western Maple bookmatched flame top One piece Brazilian Mahogany body Indian Rosewood neck and fingerboard Italian Ivoroid binding to body and neck Genuine Mother of Pearl inlays 6100 jumbo frets Bone nut Grover rotomatic tuners TonePros tune-o-matic bridge and tail piece And of course - Bareknuckle pickups. Its also a genuine Gibson scale i.e 24 3/4 on the bass side and 24 5/8 on the treble.
  20. Not at all - this forum is all about sharing right? Neil
  21. Thanks guys, initial impressions are good but Tim, the owner, will fine tune the electrics once he gets a feel for the guitar. It weighs in at just over 8 1/2 lbs and feels lighter on a strap but sounds like it weighs 10+ which was the goal all along. Neil
  22. Nearly done, still a bit of wiring and a final setup to go. I had a little break from this one whilst I completed several other projects but I'm pleased with the final results. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/408a4f2d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/62a58822.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/a79d028d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/462fccce.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/8716ce35.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/3c55758e.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/xlr8...in/0e976284.jpg Neil
