  2. I never really give much thought to noise. But it is about the same as the smaller PC but nothing is as loud and the 3hp. I would bet it would be quieter than a skil for sure.

    R-

They are indeed very quiet with excellent runout and low vibration. However the collets are a POS, change them for Bosch ones (yes they fit with no modifications) and you'll have (IMO) the best 2hp router there is.

  3. Ruokangas guitars' website used to have a picture of similar piece of equipment, but it was raised to almost horizontal position, like old fashioned parallelogram drawing boards. It seemed to me a much more ergonomic than the table top -model. Too bad the shop tour -pictures have been removed from their web site.

It's still there if you know where to look

  4. Hello Everyone,  I've just purchased my first CNC router.  Its a K2 prototype from WDK guitars.  I'll say that I am impressed with this machines solid construction and very excited about the things I will be able to do with it.  Eventually.  I need help with the software and I'm looking for anyone who can help me learn Mastercam X or make .NCF files for me.  I am trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible but Its a waste to have this machine sitting doing nothing while I start my learning curb.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

    These guys are very helpful

  5. Yeah Neil nothing stops you now!!! You're making a lot of interesting guitars lately!!!

I look forward to see complete another Les Paul!!! For now that's a great tele, I like the finishing job you do. You use polyurethane, right?

I heard a lot of different way to polish poly. What is it yours? It seems to work very fine.

    Gian

    Hi Gian,

Yes I use a premium two part Auto poly. I wet sand to 1500 grit taking care not to get water near any exposed wood. Then its over to this

Where I use a medium then fine compound working slowly and applying very little pressure.

  6. Looking good! Dont be suprised if you get a hoard of PM's asking you questions, im gona need all the help i can get my own LP build!

No worries, I'll do my best - I was just looking at your thread funnily enough. If you follow Setchs tutorial and take the time to get the neck angle correct the rest will follow. The carve itself is straight forward enough, just do it slowly and take the time to check the symmetry as you go.

    Cheers,

    Neil

  7. Maybe I've missed it, but where did you get plans for LP? Also, how thick is mahogany, and how thick is the top?

Superb job! I really like it (that's why I voted for it!).

    mullmuzzler | OSSMT

You can download plans from the MIMF forum, order them from Stewmac or buy a set of templates from Roni at www.guitarbuildingtemplates.com

The Guitar is 2 1/4" thick and the top 7/8". The carve is a full 1/2" which is why it the body looks thinner than a standard Les Paul - they're the same overall thickness at the bridge.

    I'm so pleased with this one that I'm building another for myself with an insane flame top over a black limba body and neck;

It'll be finished in a charcoal burst with an Ebony binding to the body, Ebony fingerboard and headstock veneer.

Thanks for the vote btw. :D
