will any Strat-style pickguard fit my Squier Strat? I know that almost any new pickguard requires SOME adjusting, but are there any major differences between makes that I should know about?

I do have one more question... if i were to replace my pickguard, there wouldn't be any need for rewiring, would there? It seems the just will screw off, and the new one will just screw on. Also, instead of buying new pickup covers... since you know, i'm not scratching my pick on them, i could just paint them couldn't i? Am i wrong? Probably. I just wanna take the cheap bastard's way out

alright, thanks. Would I be able to pick up a new pickguard at any guitar/instrument store? Any ideas what kind of price range i'd be looking at? Also, can you buy black volume/tone knobs and pickup covers? I feel like such a n00b

I'm new here... and also very new at this whole guitar modding thing... I'm really cheap. But i want a black pickguard. Can I paint my pickguard? With use would the paint chip off? Would it just be more practical to just go buy a black pickguard?
