  1. any updates on this thread and guitar? id love to see..
  2. First of all, how do you ground a guitar with a tune-a-matic/string-thru bridge? I know on tremolo guitars, you ground the guitar with the claw. How does it work with a tune-a-matic? And second question, looking at all my guitars in the control cavities, theres a black kind of finish inside, what is it and can I get it at home depot or such? EDIT: I did some searches, I did before I originally posted and got nothing but somehow I got results after trying again. I saw that you do not need to ground a tune-a-matic if you have an active EMG, which is the case for me, its a 7-string I've built, single EMG 81-7 and a t-o-m/string-thru and just a single volume control. And for the second part, I was kind of confused on shielding... what exactly do I need to do for sheilding the pickup cavity and control cavity? I am wanting to use shielding paint that I read about, so if I do, do I just paint the entire cavities and after so.. thats it? No other soldering or anything needed? I'm asking all these questions bcuz I'd rather be safe than sorry ya know what I mean? heh. I plan on doing this within the next 24 hours bcuz I'm pretty much done with the guitar except for that part, so let me know ASAP!! Thanks
  3. Thanks all... basically I wasnt sure what was the best way to clamp it... to hold the pieces to the center piece while the glue drys see what im sayin? that was the whole point to my question. thanks, i get it know.
  4. oh, its that simple? haha.. no sanding or anything? how many coats of satin laquer is enough?
  5. I have a 'how to' question... I did a search and couldnt find anything, and its not in the tutorials on project guitar, so I am wondering, how do you glue the side parts of the body on to the center piece of wood for a neck-thru guitar? Thanks, ~Mike
  6. I'm starting my project this weekend, and I'm planning everything now. And right now I'm working on planning the finish, and I want to do a satin finish. I DID do a search on it and found lots of good stuff, but I want to be specific on exactly what I'm going for... hence this thread. Anyone know the Jackson SLSMG in the satin black finish? That is exactly the finish I want to do, so if anyone does know that guitar and anything about its finish, please tell me how I go about getting it like that. Of course, I should also mention the color I'm going for, basically I want to do a natural transparent color, but a dark orange/brown color with the satin finish I want that I mentioned above. So... lets hear it! Thanks, ~Mike
  7. idk.. cuz it looks like its just a rod but im guessing it has those small "scales" or however u call em, i just dont know what its called so thats why im asking, im planning a trip to home depot to pick up some needed things. ← Rotary rasp or burr? ← i did a search.. you nailed it, its a rotary rasp! lol thanks, now i can get one.
  8. idk.. cuz it looks like its just a rod but im guessing it has those small "scales" or however u call em, i just dont know what its called so thats why im asking, im planning a trip to home depot to pick up some needed things.
  9. What is the drill bit being used in the pic for doing scallops/bevels and all that?
  10. Oh! I remember going thru his website, his guitars are gorgeous! Ha, I may email him about my needs lol. Thanks for the links!
  11. Thats the good thing, I wouldnt mind if the headstock didnt have the Jackson logo. Only problem is I can't afford the USA COW Model. His Dinky models are affordable but thats the thing, they are Dinky's not Soloist's and the Dinky's are bolt-on's where as his USA's are neck-thru (which is what I want). So back to my origianl question, is there anyone who can make me a replica or w/e of Christian's guitar? (no mention of price though, I wanna keep that part out for now).
  12. Basically, you saw the guitar I want replicated, Christian of Fear Factory's Jackson USA Custom Shop Soloist in a 7-String, and I want someone who could build one for me (price is nothing on this) I just need a guitar maker who will build it and have other things dicussed later on. Thanks ~Mike
  13. 1049.99 doesnt seem right, being that its the USA Custom shop model I want. I already emailed the guys at Drum City/Guitar Land and the price for the USA models are over three grand. I can't afford that even if I sold my car! (My car is an '01 Nissan Altima) and yea, that guitar is probably worth more than my car. So thats why I seek someone to build me one exactly like it but for an affordable and reasonable price. Christian has a Jackson Dinky model signature based of the custom shop and its a bolt-on, I want a neck-thru so yea.
