  1. ESP Japan does a very interesting one... http://espguitars.co.jp/original/ax/index.htm The paint job sets it off.
  2. My little scribble tribute I drew when I first found out. In order to tribute him through his medium, the guitar, I'd carve his visage in old-style relief, like the dollar bill prints, using that wood-press look, on a flamed-maple, transparent green-burst finish; of course on a classic star body. What do you think of how that would look? I'd love to do that, or possibly make a mold so that his face would be in regular relief on diamond plate, on a black painted body; this is just a dream... I don't know if I could do that. Personally, I'd like to say that I pay tribute to that man by staying true to myself, and blazing my own trail by my own unique brand of music. That I think would be the ultimate tribute to Dimebag.
  3. Hey now.... that ain't fair! Just doing my job! Can't say I wanted to push you towrad the LTD as much as I can say I just didn't wanna see you buy that Kramer! Plus, I just didn't want anyone getting the idea that ESPs were made from plywood (but yes... they are Korean). Solid alder... all the way through. Not any pro or con, or trying to plug it, but it ISN'T ply. Good to see you settling on something though. Lemme know everything you did on those pickups, if you do 'em, because it sounds like good fun.
  4. How's about a veneer and a fade y'know... where one end of the guitar is the color then fade to black? I think that'd look pretty sweet on a V... black wingtips. Just me rambling again.
  5. Heh... That strap idea... I ain't following you. I'm just lost as usual. You may already know what I'm going to say, but this time I have experience! I've played a LTD Viper with 81's and it doesn't have any balance issues like people are talking about with the SG. It fits nice and right. I tried out this specific model: the LTD Viper 400, with see-through black cherry finish. Lemme tell you, it's very comfortable. It's lighter than you would expect, but you could definitely see it was NOT plywood. So... don't let anyone talk you into what you don't want, even me, but just try one out if you can. I referenced with other lower models, so if you are looking just to see how it feels on you, the other Vipers are the same weight and balance.
  6. It's cool looking the way it is... but IF you are going for authenticity, I would say that you need to make those points sharper, and that the base of the body is just a tad too bowed out.
  7. Thank you for the honesty. Appreciate it. I'll try... with a bit of dedication I can do it, right? *Inspirational thumbs-up here* Of course, I could end up hurling a fingerboard and a bunch of pearloid pieces against a wall in anger more easily... we'll see.
  8. Wait.. I did... nevermind!! Fingerboard scalloping. Now... can anyone help with question two?
  9. I had yet another question from me: Does anyone have a tutorial on how to mak a proper scalloped fingerboard? I wanna try to play on one, but the only one I've seen was on a guitar I couldn't afford and said, literally, "DO NOT TOUCH" in big red letters. I'd like to give it a whirl so I'm buying a neck and some ebony finger boards... help me out here? Also to do with these fingerboards or an existing neck, depending on how it's done... Does anyone have a good idea on how to change out inlays? I want some inlay designs that are a bit more... me. I'd prefer not to use filler in a big hole with the inlay dropped right in, but learn how to really carve it out and do it right. Thanks in advance.... NOTE: I put this in the wrong forum, didn't I?
  10. Cyclone... YOU made that one?! I went to the Warmoth site and thought yours was fricking sweet! Sorry to barge in... I just loved that design.
  11. Yeah... Testors sells it. Keep on truckin' Idch... I'm watching closely...
  12. The ones I'm obligated to say: Yngwie Malmsteen Steve Vai Eddie van Halen Joe Satriani GEORGE LYNCH Little known guys: Jun Senoue Raxel van Schred (friend of mine in London... Craziest Indian shredder you ever heard. His alter ego is Parminder Gill, and funnily enough has a tame day job and all.)
  13. Two Thumbs up for everyone, Dave Wehadababyitsaboy!
  14. Did you try layering in the filler, maybe a 1/4" at a time? That may help. Also, you could try to use saw dust packed in and then fill in the last 1/4" or so. Just my ideas. One last one is using a precisely cut wood plug.
  15. OK... So aluminum's that soft? Hmm... might try brass. I just really like the aesthetics of this "step-board" look. I really wanna try it on something.
