  1. Thatd be great, but she doesnt dig the fender style bodies
  2. Hi, im back, doubt any of you remember me Anyways, Im wanting to build (not make) my girlfriend a new bass. I was looking at warmoth.com, but it seems like a lot of trouble to order from them (and expensive!) I was looking for a nice bass body and a beautiful neck to make her a nice custom and since Im out of school, I cannot make the parts my self So, post what you got and we may be able to work out a deal! Thanks
  3. Did i miss something or is there a reason you used a jigsaw instead of a bandsaw? Cool shape, but yeah, deffinatly join those pointy parts on a bit better. Ive made many prototypes in school since gr.9...still havent got it the way i want so i havent bothered finishing any. The one im on now is very promising and I took these guys' tips and made a new neck after they gave me many reasons to and im glad i listened to them. These guys are usually right, so listen well
  4. I honestly appreciate all the comments....atleast when it effs up, Ill know the reasoning behind it...I'll keep with this neck until I know the project is a success, so then i can plan a new neck our for it. THANKS A LOT GUYS
  5. id be better of making a whole new neck then...ive messed way to many necks up by trying to steam them off...I tested it today though and it seems to be working fine, the channel doesnt seem THAT big
  6. Too late Jay hahah I know I should have done a bit more research, but we wrapped it up real good so it won't rattle...I havent had to adjsut one yet so maybe ill be lucky and not have to ever :D
  7. yeah it is a scarf joint I've seen other people make trussrods like the one i made....I also bought a neck off ebay, took the fretboard off and it was the same style so I guess if my neck warps and the truss rod snaps, im SOL
  8. Deceiving to the eyes, but it's actually a two piece body too.
  9. it was ment to be a neck thru, but the router bit slid up while routing the truss rod slot and it ate through it.
  10. Hey, just started this new project, my friend from school is also helping out. Enjoy Here's the rough body with the fretboard (Ripped the fretboard from the neck blank http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...oject/Mock3.jpg Truss Rod...not sure how this will work out but yeah http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...oject/Mock6.jpg Scarf http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...oject/Mock4.jpg Heel Shaping http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...ct/raspheel.jpg Rough Volute (First ever atempt) http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar.../raspvolute.jpg Volute Sanding http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...utesanding2.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...lutesanding.jpg Finished volute http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...eckprofile3.jpg Neck shaping http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...jwendespoke.jpg Finished http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...eckprofile2.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...ject/volute.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...neckprofile.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...eckprofile4.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...roject/test.jpg To start the volutes off, we held the neck against an oscilating spindle sander to get the right shape, then rasped from there. I'm thinking of all gold hardware for this and am currently looking for a BC Rich Quad bridge. After 2 weeks of work in the schools shop, we are near completing the neck. We are either going to veneer the headstock or just paint it due to the glue line. Whata' ya think?
  11. I'm looking for a good condition black or gold Quad bridge for my project. I have paypal, post here if interested, thanks!
  12. you might be able to use some maple colored filler to fill that knot?
  13. Does anyone go a pre slotted fretboard with any scale and any amount of frets? I have paypal so yeah, post pics and we'll discuss it.
  14. dude this is tempting....ill get back to you later on tonight
  15. That looks like a couple 1/4" Zircote tops on some kinda wood w/Maple and black Walnut stringers. Why not just buy the wood and make them yourself. Anyone who makes all those bits for you will have to charge for so many cuts (which you could just do yourself, and save some money). Peace,Rich I would if I had a little extra time, but I'm doing this in shop class and you have idiots who mess with your projets so I'd rather have a prebuilt one to save my self the troubles of hillbillies wrecking it while its gluing up. Mamomthguitars, I dropped you an email, thanks.
  16. Im wanting a body blank that has various woods in it similar to this: I don't care what the stringers are, but I'd want the wings to be walnut or even maple. If no one has a body like this, I'd also want a walnut body blank plus stringers and strips to make a body like that. Thanks, I have paypal also
  17. i feel the same way about mockingbirds...thats a sweet combo you got going on though
  18. I'd say it looks more like a Bich than anything...looks cool, great work
  19. it's either this or an aluminum neck
  20. id love a graphic like that on my guitar....i mean wow
  21. If i were to buy a 1.5" thick x 3.5" wide x 29" long plank of ceylon ebony, would it be suitable for a neck? It's quarter sawn and needs it's edges trimmed and also needs planing but is there any "negative" things about an all ebony neck? I think it would look killer with a maple body BTW, it's sitting at $24 with one day left...
  22. i wanted a mockingbird template set and asked him if i could also buy a warlock neck seperateley
  23. i was going to suggest just buying the neck template from guitarbuildiongtemplates.com....costs $25 but you just have to ask him
