  1. Actually I just found a woodworking school about an hour from my house. I think its worth looking into. Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking
  2. Sounds good to me. I've been looking for some adult ed. courses in my area to improve my woodworking skills, but no luck yet. I definitely some practice before mangling some nice tone woods!
  3. Yeah, maple top, mahogany back is my goal. I was thinking Poplar also, but wanted to see if anyone had other ideas. Basswood is a good suggestion, too. Has anyone worked with Alder? Thanks for the replies!
  4. Hi all, I've decided to scrap my frankenstein 335 project in favor of a "from scratch" guitar. Currently I don't have a bandsaw so I'll be cutting the body by hand, and I have little routing experience. Given this, what woods are easier to work with? I'm not sure I'm ready to ruin some nice mahogany and maple blanks (yet!) But I don't want to dump hundreds of hours into plywood either. A little advice is appreciated!
  5. Here's link to the press release from Fender: Fender Press Release
  6. Hi guys, I'm making my christmas list and would like some recommendations on routers (brands, good and bad) and accessories (and guides or jigs specific to guitar making). Thanks!
  7. I will only have the body, no neck or hardware so I'm going to have to scavenge for parts and assemble it. This is my first projec so I didn't want to start butchering any innocent trees yet. I'll save that for prject #2
  8. Hi all, I'm waiting for a 335 copy body to arrive and then I'll be starting my first project with it.
