  1. I think it would look cool adding a japanese sun and some kanji symbols the swirl kinda looks like japanese water painting. although that may not be your customer's cup o tea
  2. On the headstock was something i tried when i first started messing with piezos it was just a piezo element taped down to the headstock and a jack wired to it and i got some tone out of it. maybe it was a one time thing i don't know i'm no where near your electrical/ experimental guitar skills or ansils or anyones really lol. i just try to see what i can do.
  3. Thank you i really enjoy the fact that since my first post all i have gotten back is kind words and advice/help. currently I'm thinking combining ansil's wiring the piezo strip under the bridge and one clamped to the headstock in some manner or another might get the most tone out of the solid body. As for the rocking bridge i think i'll just drill some extra mounting holes in the base plate as this kahler is definitely staying on this guitar, for now.lol. I'd show pictures but i didn't take any during the install and now you can't see it which was my goal. And on wiring piezos together should i go in series or parallel? I had wondered about that, Oh ya sorry to Ansil about all of my talking in your thread i do really appreciate your sharing of this wiring idea I will definitely use it.
  4. hey sorry i hadn't gotten back in a while. So far my experience has been just shy of fully satisfying. My Kahler trem like yours is mounted on an all mahogany SG i made so i started messing with ideas first i stuck a Radioshack piezo under the leading edge since it should press down the hardest withouth a preamp obviously it was very harsh and bright but it did have pretty good output but was obviously picking up handling noises especially when i touched the whammy bar. so the next trial was to buy a cheap under saddle piezo and preamp for an acoustic guitar and using the RS piezo from earlier into the preamp it sounded great just like an acoustic fitted with the system but probably because it was a cheap-ish preamp it still didn't give me the open woody tone of a straight acoustic, probably never will but anyways. to try and cut the harshness out i used some shrinkwrap on the RS piezo and that really cut the handling noise but i had to have the volume and most of the equalization controls of the preamp at max. not really a good solution if you want to be able to shape your tone. so then i did what i should have done. I saw in another thread i believe from Johnny foreigner where he stuck the under saddle piezo from a kit like mine under a hardtail bridge so i chiseled out a little ledge under my kahler and put the under saddle piezo there then reinstalled the kahler it sounded much better this way but now ill have to make a preamp cause the one i have is way too big to fit into an sg another dissapointment is is that to get pressure on the piezo the kahler is a little higher off the body and can rock slightly so i'm still working on it but it is much much more satisfying to do it myself.
  5. hey psw i have been looking into putting a piezo on that kind of kahler i made an sg with that bridge on it. right now i just have it primitively clamped under the thing and i can get some sounds out of it but nothing remarkable if you figure something out would you mind shedding some light?
  6. search for choppers music .com they have block inlays and sharkfin inlays for about 16 bucks they are acrylic but the don't look too bad.
  7. +1 The build challenge on project guitar but maybe not limited to one body style. perhaps just a set price goal to make the best guitar we can.
  8. Hey man I love your work explorers are by far one of the greatest guitars ever made. I am still a new member so i can't pm yet i was wondering if you could send an estimate on a guitar just like this one but right handed with no tuners or any parts or paint except of course for a sealer normally i would build my own but your builds are so neat and professional i could see your work one day being more revered than old gibsons, built better too in my opinion. Anyways if you don't feel like responding I'd understand but if you do my email is blackskull_2@hotmail.com
  9. Dude for something that you say sucks that was really cool, i loved the ambient but focused sound. really cool man i will say i thought you were crazy at first but thats really cool. please dont stand up and play though i would to see you fall off the stage and kill someone with that thing!
  10. ok so i don't want to hijack your thread but i have really been wondering about the stacked heel i see here and on crows builds. I didn't believe it at first but is that really a viable option because i have three mahogany boards i thought i would only be able to make a laminated neck out of. Anyways if some one could tell me yay or nay I'd appreciate it. The boards I have are one inch thick or so, so stacked it would make a two inch heel. Also i was wondering if that's glued with titebond or similar or epoxy? Again sorry to interrupt I love the build by the way so clean you make it look easy.
  11. I would definitely say the Ash top it looks so much nicer i think, quilt is gorgeous but if you found a nice piece of ash that would follow the body lines it would look amazing. By the way I'm definitely going to end up using that idea some day.
  12. It's really easy use this video it shows you how to do it however i'm not sure if you are looking for something more complicated. If yio want lights to go off at different times this video won't explain it however it does show to wire the op-amp to make them sensitive to sound.
  13. I would suggest just sanding it back and re staining.
  14. Hey I have been looking in to building an acrylic body but so far have only found thin acrylic sheets and the only place i found with thick enough material was extremely expensive and only came in clear. I saw you said you needed to make a mould? Meaning perhaps you know where to get the mix yourself acrylic? I would be interested in that if you could help me out. Thank you.
  15. thank you so much elmo that really cleared up a lot of stuff i think when i finally install this thing in a guitar im gonna start building ill put in adjustable pole pieces to balance this out. just to cover my basses i always saw single coil drivers, so sorry if i missed someone talking about it but i was wondering if that would be possible in a sustainer i know humbuckers are meant to cancel out certain frequencies to eliminate hum im just wondering if you could do certain balancing tricks with a dual coil design and increase the sustainers abilities. or if it will just cancel out the goal of the sustainer. anyways I wanted to thank everyone for their posts and help you have all really cleared up some the murkiness i had in this project.
