  1. Oh, the first picture is a mock up? I thought it was the real thing. Nice photoshop work.
  2. That's cool. Must have been a bitch to figure out where all those pedal fit. And I know crossing over on the fretboard isn't easy either. Nice Job
  3. Finished staining the front last night. This is a really crappy picture. I'm working on it.
  4. Got around to staining and painting the back. Looking even cooler in person. Video coming soon.
  5. Thanks. I really liking the fretboard. It's going to be fun to play.
  6. That is a good idea. Why didn't I think of that. I always make drawing and I never quite understand them later. :-/
  7. Interest. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
  8. Not sure I understand the question. Most of the inlay is done. Do you mean what materials for the fretboard? I hope to start the fretboard this week. Was going to start it this weekend, but I can a BIG file problem. I was backing up my files to a stick when something bad went down and I lost 3/4 of my cam programs. Took me all weekend to get this restored. Bummer.
  9. I never thought of that. It would be a good idea, but I would have to reinlay the trim plate. Hmmm ...
  10. Actually, I'm planning on doing something pretty radical. I am going to use a number of stains to simulate a planetscape/landscape, then I will hand paint some of the background details like stars and rocks. I've never seen anyone try anything quite like it, so I am in very uncharted waters here, but I believe it will work out. I can see it in my head, now I just have to get it on the guitar. But, first I have to get around to inlaying the fretboard. Putting in the planet mars is going to be really tricky and I just haven't been able to get motivated yet.
  11. I alway thought the A20's have quited tops. Cool guitar though.
  12. Project update form 8/3/10. I just uploaded to youTube four videos of me working on this project. They are in the Workshop section of my web-site or on youTube, just search for sharkinlay.
  13. It's 5"x3". It's an electronics cover for a Grateful Dead style guitar being build by Post Guitars Beautiful work. Its a shame its going to be hidden on the back of the guitar. Just out of curiosity how long does something like that take start to finish and what does it set your client back? Actually, it's going on the front of the guitar. Grateful Dead, style cover go on the guitar below the bridge. Here is a picture of a different one on make on the guitar. It took about two weeks from start to finish, but that was not working time just elasped time. As far as pricing, I don't like to talk about that on forums. Email if your really interested.
  14. Yes, the feathers draping down from the neck and the ones on the back were painted on. All the rest is either shell, recon stone, and two pieces of acryllic for the center part of the neck and the top of the body. There was just no way to get that effect with inlay so I turned to paint. I wanted the feathers to be somewhat transparent so you could see the material behind it.

  16. If you're wondering why there hasn't been any undates on the SciFi guitar project, it's because I've been too busy working on client projects. Stuff for me always comes last However, today I just finished something really cool and thought you might like to take a look.
  17. Yeah, it will be a little easier to play compared to say my Unicorn or my Shark. The saucers are strategically placed.
  18. Mock up art for the fretboard, based on the movie Invaders From Mars.
  19. Thanks. I still have a long way to go yet. It took me 1-1/2 hours just to glue all the pieces in.
  20. Updates from 7/7/2010 The back inlay is done. Robbie lives!!! Video coming soon.
  21. Actually it's a type of recon stone called red fossil bone, I just left out the red part I bought some two month ago just on a whim to check it out. From the picture I never thought it would be useful. I have used it three times already and it will be on my regular buy list from now on. It's cool stuff in the right setting. Make cool looking planets.
  22. Robbie is made up for a ton of different materials. MOP,GMOP,BMOP,Silver fantail, Red Abalone, Onyx, Fosile bone, Mamoth Ivory, Leapard stone, Rodinite, Lexin, Bubbinga, Yellow Cedar ... I think that's it. Finished cutting all the pieces today. I hope to glue up on Saturday.
