  1. Here's the best one I can find... http://www.fender.com/new_repository/fende.../0262400_xl.jpg You can't see too much detail, but it looks like it's made of tinfoil (the shinier chrome-looking side). On the actual one, it looks kind of 3-D, but I dont need that, I just want the chrome Fender Logo. Maybe I could get somebody with a vinyl cutter/design thing to cut me out a Fender logo in that mylar-looking vinyl? Thanks, -Hugh
  2. I've owned a Squier II, though mine was a franken-strat when I bought it, but it had a Squier II neck, so I was curious, I looked around, and most of them I saw had a SSH configuration, I think that had something to do with it. -Hugh
  3. Does anybody know what those chrome Fender decals are made of or have any ideas on how I could reproduce such a thing, because I just saw one of those at Guitar Center and I want to paint the headstock on my Strat and put a decal like that on it. Also, do you know if these are inlays? They look kind of 3-D. Any ideas? Thanks -Hugh
  4. Does anybody know where I could find pics of a blueburst quilt top strat body like http://www.guitarpartsonline.com/Cart/desc...54365.173.71.40 that? I need a good pic of a body like that (that isn't at a funky angle) so I can piece together (in Photoshop) a guitar I'm planning. (To see what color pickguard, neck, and such). Thanks -Hugh
  5. for the LP i cleaned the pots, output jack, and 3-way, and no luck... what do you think i should try to replace first the volume pot, or 3-way switch? i hear that EPI 3-ways are kind of infamous for going out... thanks, hugh
  6. after reading my post again i noticed that the strat question makes no sense... the whammy bar is what's twisted off thanks hugh
  7. i've got a strat question and a lp question... lp first i've got a cheapie epiphone LP and it's really a great guitar and i've never had any problems with it until yesterday, i plugged it into my vox pathfinder and it just wouldn't get anywhere near the volume that i know it's capable of.. so i thought it was the amp, so i unplugged it and knocked it around a bit, cause i figured it was a solder problem.. then i plugged it in to another amp... and same problem... it's very quiet... i tried all three positions on the PU switch and none of them work... it's a really quiet output.. im thinking it could be the volume knob? anybody have any ideas? strat problem one of my bandmates has a squier strat and he (god knows how) twisted it off inside of the socket so the bit of threded rod isn't sticking out of the guitar, it's down inside it... any ideas on how to get it out? Hugh
  8. I finally scored myself a REAL Fender strat. On top of that, I landed it for $150 at a local show! Question 1: The previous owner had some stickers on it. The body has yellowed a bit (I think the guy may have smoked in his music room or something) and you can see where the stickers were. Is there any way to un-yello the body? Question 2: I know this might sound funny, like an un-educated question, well it is, i don't know much about tremelos, but, I went to change the strings and when a try to tune, it'll be in tune, and when I tune the other strings, it detunes the ones I tuned before them, because it just keeps stretching the trem springs. Is this normal, should I tighten up those six little screws in front of the saddles? Or should I just tighten it until the trem. stops moving? Thanks, Hugh
  9. I could be wrong, but that neck looks a lot like the necks on Dean basses. Chances are that they won't fit, but it's something to look into. -Hugh :..lj..:
  10. I'm always trying to think of stuff to do with junk parts. Once in a studio I saw a strat headstock as a doorknob, it was pretty cool.
  11. Thanks, I probably will order a new neck... I guess that means only one thing... New towel bar for the bathroom... I've always wanted to do that... but never had the money... Thanks -Hugh :..lj..: and yeah, it broke at the nut
  12. I have a Squier II strat that I got for like $50, and it had this horrible fret buzzing, I had done everything I knew to try to fix this (tuss rod adjustment, raising the nut, wedging paper in to angle the neck) to no avail. So just now, as a last resort, I was tightening the tuss rod up and pop! it twisted right off. Well, in deep remorse, I put the strat back together and put strings on it (so I could hang it on the wall and never play it, or put it on ebay) and it sounds way better than ever and darned near perfect (for a squier) the buzzing is GONE... does anyone know why this happened? I just can't figure it out...and... is there any way to get a (broken) tuss rod out without removing the fretboard? thanks -Hugh :..lj..:
  13. That's (once again) INCREDIBLE. It's insane that you get that finish with a roller. None the less, do it TWICE. -Hugh :..lj..:
  14. My uncle just cut down a huge maple tree and I'm wondering, could I have that kiln dried if I cut it into boards (where would I get this done?)... or I've heard you can leave it in the oven on 200 for like 8 hours. Has anybody tried this? Does it work? I also have access to a huge kiln at my school (I kind of suck up to the art teacher) but it's a pottery kiln. Will this work? If so does anybody know how long, or what temperature? Thanks -Hugh :..lj..:
