  1. Yer, Gotoh 510 series stuff and the wilkinson partnership stuff and nice.
  2. Why not hollow out the spruce and add a nice cap? THen you can hybrid an acoustic sorbera shaped bridge with couple warm wounded pickups
  3. I say go for the exotic woods, buy more wood from durawoods and make a laminates galore guitar like an alembic. And then also make a multi-piece neck with the sorbera's "S" inlayed with abalone in the middle of the neck on the contour side of the neck (not the fretboard)...lol...sweet... Oh did I mention try making this guitar an electric/acoustic just like the Tom Anderson Atom/Crowdster models? That'll be a challenge...
  4. I am yet agin very impressed. The shapes are starting to grow on me and the finish is not far from reaching my "WOW" factor. Chrome covers will destroy everything. Maple matching maple pickup covers? Too late? Well one thing I dislike about the guitar is how the grains of the bookmatch doesn't seem to line up on top part of the body.. But overall, keep up the good work
  5. Man can't wait to see this thing done. Try a tiger eye finish..Yumm! Is this what your going for or similar?
  6. Ok....this is getting frikin freeky. First fookgub posted a picture that I saw exactly the time of the posting, then now sambo mentions the forum that I was just on and reading all day on...
  7. Here: http://www.ceriatone.com/ Buy all the components you need there... Can get yourself killa tone for peanuts.
  8. However I am not even a hobbyist. Havn't even touched on the subject lol...
  9. lol this thread is mainly for fun and interest. Likely not going to happen, but would like to see other people's thoughts. I thought it could be a nice retiring hobbie for some people. But a few thousands is a great deal for an 88r worth several million. Btw, you know its actually very scary cos I was looking at that very picture before opening this thread to look for updates...hmmm...stalker....stealing ip addresses...guess not.
  10. This is probrably quite far fetched from guitar building but is still music. I was wondering for those techheads on the forum building amps and preamps and the lot, I wondered if its possible to build recording mixers. For those who want more detail, I want to one day replicate a neve 88r.
  11. lol, free personal 1 on 1 therapy. Wow, what else can this forum offer !!
  12. But remember the behringer enclosures are plastic!
  13. Hey doing a great job. Keep it up! Yet again the striking grains of cocobolo has overwhelmed me. Love your work so far, sso hurry up and get it done.
  14. doesn't seem bad to be honest. Sure it looks bad, but its purely for studio use anyways and for that price! Its getting bought! lol.
  15. I like tracktion 2 also after looking at it. But I see that the reason all you guys like it is really because of the many built in plugins supplied fo free. Though they are good, most of the plugins are not my cup of tea. Here is a list down of the mackie supplied vst's and the ones professionals use: Amplitube LE (sucks 4 its price) sample tank (not bad).... LE (better save up) RMIV (not realistic) the rest...haven't tried, but with names like cheese machine....I might be a bit sceptic. Ok here are better alternatives for the above software: Guitar Rig 2 or Amplitube 2 (better than LE) though line6 still do well Spectrasonics Atmpsphere Spectrasonics stylus RMX Spectrasonics Triology (All spectrasonics plugins are great with over 10GB of samples compared with sampletank's 250mb) EDIT: oh yea propellerhead reason is swell too.
  16. Depends on what you want, features in ProTools are vast, but are you up for the complicity of the software? Expense? I personally use Ableton Live 5 on my PC, but I know many studio recording artists, and those with macs (almost all) will choose to use Logic Pro.
  17. It very much reminds me of the taylor T5...
  18. You can just kill me now...! Ouch! Stop showing pictures of KILLER grains! Argh...I think i'm having a heart attack... P.S. (rokeros was dead before he could finish this post)
  19. Hey guys, taylor released the 15th video just after this thread was posted. How strange? Anyhoo, this is on assembly.
  20. I likethe factory fridays, very unique and informative. However, about only 1% of the luthiers move on to that level I guess then its quite interesting to see how people make guitars on the double. Compared with fender and PRS, I must say that Taylor is probrably the best guitar company with their precision and resources to make many guitars on demand. Sambo, I case you didn't know, there are probrably more that 14 videos. Just that they arent out yet. They make a video every month. And lastly, one thing I must add to "list of things to buy when dominated earth", a UV guitar drying and paint unit. Don't you love it, spray a coat of sealer, colour, and a dozen coats and clear then wham! Into the hi-tech UV unit and in 10 minutes you have completed the guitar's curing process. Damn! I wonder how much a machine and paint like that would dig?
  21. You finish exams? Me too!! I have GCSE's. Nxt wk I have calculator paper, chem, phy, bus St. then done for the holidays!
  22. There's a bigsby aftermarket for 29 quid on axe r us. but guessing its not the price huh? The experience?
  23. I think www.craftsupplies.com is very good for england. But for Ireland you might need to pay a bit for crossing the sea and immigration.
