  1. I finally had some time to do some work on my own project. The finish will be Reranch orange over the ash. Here is the progress.
  2. a drop of CA on the bottom of the ring held it in place then I did the dust rings.
  3. I did some inlays and side markers. The inlays are Pearl dots with paduak dust and CA glue to make the red surround of the dots. The side markers are paduak dust and CA glue. It is now ready for grainfilling and clear. The body is cut and should be making some headway on the routing soon.
  4. I was considering using a spar urethane for the finish on the neck. I was thinking this might help with UV protection. Can someone post a link to the proper epoxy I should use? Thanks.
  5. i have also been advised to wipe the paduak down with acetone to get some of the oils out. Would this be a good idea? Would this mess up the maple stripe and fretboard?
  6. I am at a point where I'm ready to start finishing my current neck i'm working on. It is Padauk and maple. How should I grain fill the padauk? It has some rather wide open grain and I would like the neck to be smooth. Should I grain fill with CA? or something else?
  7. I am leaning toward the darker color. What tint or toner should I use? does this come in powder form or liquid? I was going to do a poly finish...will the tint work with poly?
  8. What is the best way to get these two finishes on an ash body? I tried searching but the search feature will not allow you to search for the word "ash" because there isn't enough letters. or
  9. would it be better to install the nut at the headstock versus the heal of the neck? or is the the same?
  10. This is the truss rod I bought. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Truss-Rod-2-Way/H6031
  11. I received my Truss rod from Grizzly and I was wondering which to install it? Should the flat side go against the fret board? or should the round part go against the fret board? I am going to install the adjustment end toward the heal of the neck. Thanks for the help.
  12. I have been eyeing that gorrilla wood glue but I know that the gorilla glue foams out and expands so i was worried the wood glue might do somethign similar. Is this the case?
  13. I have been playing with ideas for my tele deluxe project. I am making a padauk neck with a maple fretboard and maple skunk stripe. I can't decide if I want to make it a walnut body with a black pickguard, or a black alder body with a cream pickguard. I already have the wood for the neck and I'm working on it. any ideas?
  14. ok I did a little editing on some Warmoth necks. I like the contrast on these.
  15. I had an idea to put a Maple fretboard on a dark wood neck. Has this been done much before? I was thinking either bocote, walnut or maybe even padouk neck with a maple board. Would this be a bad idea? Does anyone have an examples of a maple board on a dark wood neck?
  16. Does anyone happen to have a Telecaster Deluxe template? I am going to start a new project and I am in need of one. Thanks.
  17. I have some White P-Bass pickups for sale. $20 shipped.
  18. It is the head. And they sell for $550 new on humbucker music so $450 shipped for one in perfect condition seems more than fair to me. I may be willing to drop a little bit but not a whole lot.
  19. I am putting up my Tiny Terror for sale. I am going to get a Rocker 30. I need a twin channel amp. I love the sound of the TT but I really need a separate clean channel. This is the Korean model with the Standby switch in between the wattage selection....so it is the 2nd generation Korean model. It will come with original carrying bag and box. It has never been gigged and only taken above bedroom volumes once actually. It is in perfect condition. But I'm asking $450 shipped.
  20. that looks fantastic mike. Excellent work. Can't wait to see the cover finished up.
  21. Ok I have my Tele up for sale. It is a rather rare tele. This is a Made in Japan, Fender Telecaster 90's custom. Fender did not make many of these. They originally came in black and this vintage white. The guitar comes with the white pearloid original pickguard as well as the tort guard that is on it currently. The guitar plays amazing. Great low action, Glossy thin "C" shaped neck, Double pearliod binding, Gold hardware, and the pickups are nice and hot. It has the 50th anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock. I'm looking to get $550 + shipping for it. feel free to ask any questions.
  22. I just finished my latest project and thought I would share it. It is a goldtop les paul copy with a poplar body, mahogany neck, creambuckers, keystone tuners, adjustable wraparound. It plays and sounds great. It actually plays easier and better than my friends $2400 Gibson Les paul. I have never been a fan of les pauls at all, but I really like the look and feel of this guitar.
