Thanks for the reply I was begining to think I was an out cast as I never seem to get many replies to my post. I am a bamboo fly rod builder and whenever a post is made on rodbuilding sites there are so many replies you get info overload.

I did glue in the arched braces but I believe due to lack of moisture in the cold northeast air the back dried out and began to shrink flatten out, even with arched bracing glued to it.

Hi Guys,

After carving braces on front and back I glued the soundboard to the sides. It is glued and has a nice radius on the soundboard.

Now I go to glue the back to the sides and, before gluing I find that the nice radius I had on the back all this time is now gone flat ,even to the point of curving the other way a bit.

Is this a fatal eror or can something be done to get the radius back on the back.

What size ?

Direction of Grain?

How many?

Is there any info out there to reference?

I have built a bending Machine and have a few questions about bending sides.

Using a bending machine similar to a Fox how close to the molds will the sides fit after bending. Will there be some spring back that will occur with the sides (about ½ top and bottom bend and about 3/16 at waist)

Is it ok to glue up with the spring back being clamped to mold to hold shape or do the sides have to fit the mold perfectly before clamping?

Do some of you modify the molds of the bending machine to over bend so when relaxed it springs back to exact shape?

Hi This is my first post. I would like know why would you use engleman instead or sitka or vuce versa for brace wood. And What other woods make good brece wood. Building first acoustic and will surely need help.
