    I suggest taking the extra time and effort to create working templates. I'm sure that template is fixable with bondo or something similar, but create working ones and leave this as the master. And it may be wise to remove as much material with drill bits. It's more tedious but it really helps prolong the life of your router bits.

    I think you need to take off more wood from the sides when you rough cut the neck. May be a bit dangerous to you and the work piece if you try to route too much material off. Thankfully it turned out well.

    That's beautiful! Especially with the hand tools. Is that body mahogany? It looks dark, like a stained mahogany.

    Thanks Andy and Carl. The Wilkinsons do sound decent for their price. I've used them in a les Paul before and for the price they sounded amazing.

    Where did you get those wood? I also did a poor man's burst on my recent strat. It's quite fun and rewarding if it turns out well.

    Do you work everyday or only during the weekends? I guess the challenge comes when you have multiple projects going on and can only work during certain days.

    Haha yes at that stage I was sick of all the intricate work so I was lazy and didn't tidy it up. I'll probably touch up the edges with a black acrylic marker.

    Thanks Andy. Trying to build a neck through with minimal tools was a pain in the arse. If I ever build another bass it will definitely be a bolt on. I like bolt ons because they're much simpler to make and you can always come back and adjust the neck angle. Also I agree with you that single cuts are an acquired taste. I used to find it weird last time but grew to like it, and eventually made one!

    Yes the inlayed bass cleft might have been a mistake! I free hand routed it and filled with epoxy. In retrospect should've just left it or made a decal. I was feeling lazy and didn't want to cut out more inlays out of abalone. I did consider the emg hz but the reviews weren't fantastic online and I couldn't find many demos.
