Thanks for the kind words, fellas. It doesn't hold a candle to much of the work I've seen on here, but I'm proud of it. Wish I could've gotten all cream pups, rather than the zebra scheme, but GFS doesn't make them that way unfortunately. I do think it looks nice though.

And a little mock up. She's all sanded to 150. Gotta route, and sand through the grits up to 400. Then she's getting either Danish or Tung oil, depending on my mood that day.

Got the tuners test fitted. Didn't want to blow a ton of cash, so most of my parts came from Amazon and guitarfetish. It'll be getting a set of GFS Fat PAT's. I have a set of their tele hot rails and I love them. Hopefully the Fat PAT's impress me as well.

And recessed these Schaller style strap locks a bit. I'll have to open up the edges of the recess just a touch, but I think it looks pretty nice. Got a bunch of spots I shooouuuld fill in. But I think I've decided to leave them, as reminders of the problems I've run into throughout the build, and the will to overcome them. "Growing pains" I suppose.

Bought this little drill jig. Works pretty well. My string thru holes are just a tiny bit off, but I can live with it. Worked really well for the tuner holes.

Finished up the body shaping and slimmed the neck heel down a bit. Drilled string-thru holes and started boring out the tuner holes.

Quite a bit of progress today. Firstly, filled a big chunk of tear out from being an idiot with the old router with clear epoxy. It shall serve as a constant reminder not to do stupid stuff with power tools.

Alright, hoping to make some progress on this project this weekend. All my parts are in. Anybody got any tips on drilling straight string-thru holes without a drill press?

Well, the rasp and I had a little playdate. Also, yes, I know, my house is a disaster. I have a 4 year old walking hurricane. Gotta even out the belly carve a bit, but I'm pretty happy with how it's looking so far.

Well then, forstner bit and chisel it is. Looks like it shouldn't be too horribly difficult to achieve. If I ever actually finish this guitar I'll treat myself to a new router for the next one. Hoping to do a headless for travel next.

Yep, just rather than being on the top, I want to put it on the inside face of the body wing before glue-up. Then when I route for the pickups, it will expose the channel so I can run the wiring thru. That way I avoid dealing with having to drill from the neck pickup route AAAAAAAAAALL the way to the control cavity. I can just drill from the bridge pickup route and run both wires that way.

WOW it's been a long time. Bunch of stuff came up and I haven't had much time. But I'm finally ready to get back to this. So, with that, I have a dilemma. My router died on me. Seized up and won't turn. And quite frankly, the thing scared the shit out of me anyway. It was a cheapie that never really did a wonderful job anyway. So, I'm without an essential tool. I do have a friend with one I can borrow for a day, though, but it's a 2 hour drive. So, I don't want to do that more than once. I've got my wings brought down to their final dimensions with a spindle sander. And now I need to put a wiring channel down the inner face of the treble side wing. Any ideas on a good way to accomplish such a task without the router? I don't care if it's pretty or not, since it'll be internal. It's just gotta fit the neck pickup wire.
