  1. IronSchef Custom Build 004 - "RachaelRose" I decided to do 2 builds this summer - inspired by each of my kids -- this one is a tribute to my 12 yr old daughter. She got to pick many of the details, she's going to be so excited when she gets home! BODY Body Material - Alder with Flame Maple top Body Shape - Mustang® Body Finish - Custom Wudtone hand-rubbed finish (with body art) NECK Neck Material - Maple Neck Finish - Gloss Polyurethane Neck Shape - “C" Shape Scale Length - 24” (610 mm) Fingerboard Material - Rosewood Fingerboard Radius - 9.5” (241 mm) Number of Frets - 22 Fret Size - Medium Jumbo Nut Material - PPS Nut Width - 1.650” (42 mm) Position Inlays - Parchment Dot Truss Rod - Standard ELECTRONICS Bridge Pickup - Rose Custom Wound Mustang Single-Coil 6.60 K Neck Pickup - Rose Custom Wound Mustang Single-Coil 6.25 K Controls - On/Off, Phase Slider Switch for Each Pickup (In/Out), Master Volume, Master Tone HARDWARE Bridge - Floating Bridge with Dynamic Vibrato Tailpiece Hardware Finish - Chrome Tuning Machines - Vintage-Style with Aged White Plastic Buttons Pickguard - 4-Ply Pink Pearloid Neck Plate - 4-Bolt Custom Etched Aside from the color not turning out quite how I expected - more "peachy" than the "pinky" I expected - I like how the WudTone finish turned out -- but I don't think I liked how LONG it took to finish the body!
  2. FINALLY, the body has cured - so I worked all day on Labor Day (), then late into the evening last night, and finally strung her up today!! 3. Yep = poplar body. I have a finished neck on order from china - I have yet to use anything but complete necks on a build - not sure I will ever have the skills to build a neck!
  4. Hey folks, So, I am doing a build this summer inspired by my 10 yr-old son, who is the real musician in the family (drums for 5+ yrs now). I have done several mods on guitars, then a few builds from parts, but this will be my first attempt at building from a raw body and doing the finishing myself! The body is a "Jem" spec raw body : I am looking to create this kind of effect - based on my son's feedback -
  5. its a complete body - just unfinished. I have built only Strats and Teles so far, and wanted to try something a bit different (plus, try finishing a body this time as well). I have an Epi Al Classic Bridge pickup that I have been looking to put in a "Jr" kind of build, then fell in love with the idea of this body - its white poplar, and appears to be largely one piece ... the very tip of the front horn has a glued on/shaped piece about 1/4"- I assume that is why I got a good deal on it:
  6. Hi Folks - Just found this forum and joined. Excited to be able to tap into the collective expertise here to help me w/ my own projects!! I have done several mod projects, and have recently completed a few builds from parts - but I am about to embark on my first build from an unfinished body!
