    The "floor product" as you called it is plain solid wood, nothing fancier. Some of the species they had are common in guitar building, like maple, walnut or sapele. Some not as familiar in guitars, yet they behave well. I mean, you don't want a floor or a piece of furniture that warps heavily depending on the weather. Neither do you want a guitar that does that!

    It looks and feels natural indeed. I used OsmoColor #3001 clear oil wax - we have that on our upstairs floors as well so it's not a dedicated fancy luthier product! If memory serves me right I applied several coats, wiping the excess off despite what the instructions said. Then again, two coats and buffing might have given the same result... Then I applied some Simoniz Classic car wax ("for cars and furniture") for extra sheen.

    Despite the natural looks it's water repellent. I just tested it by pouring some water on the top and most of it just rolled off.
