  1. I think this is what PRS have done on their 513 guitars, isn't it? I sure looks that way Heggis
  2. You should be able to get a B50 a fair bit cheaper than that if you browse around for a while. I find that searching google for prices can be helpful. Use the search term: Bigsby B50 $0..$150 and it will find the item with prices between those two values. Good luck! (I just tried it and found places that had it for like $75) Heggis
  3. I had this problem when I replaced my Epiphone Les Paul stock pickup with a Kent Armstrong one. What I did though, was to take the springs from a couple of old pens I had, and that worked perfectly. No noice at all, and the tension was fine. Heggis
  4. The B5 and the B50 looks slightly different from each other, and in my opinion the B50 looks better of the two. The logo on the B5 looks a little worn or something, the writing is not as clear. I actually prefer the look of the B500 out of all three, with the pointy bit, and I also like the Fender version. I don't think there is any issue in terms of quality. The B50 is good enough that it gets used by Gretsch, Framus and several other big brands. Heggis
  5. The B5 with the Fender "F" on it is quite nice, and I like that a lot more than the B5. In addition, I also think the (cheaper) B50 and B500 models look better than the original B5. They are a little more modern. Have you checked any of those out? How about a B3? Doesn't have a tension bar, but it might fit. Heggis
  6. Yes, I saw that one too. Usually I don't like the look of visible neck tenons in the body, but it really works well in that guitar. And it is sort of complemented by the control panel and headstock. It all flows nicely together. Good luck with your shop, hope it works out well! Heggis
  7. I don't like it! Not the guitar, that looks great! I don't like that you started it yesterday, and it already looks like an amolst finished guitar. You're making the rest of us look lazy! Cool inlay by the way! Hope your frets aren't too wide, though... It may obscure the lefthand part of the head a bit. Hope it works out. Heggis
  8. Could you use something like this for a pickup? http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/repairs/LaP-98/index.shtml It a pickup for an 8-string lap steel... Heggis
  9. To find P-90 dimensions, try searching images.google.com for "P90 pickups", then just browse until you find a drawing that looks like it's got dimensions on it. I find it is better browsing the images than trying to search "normal" google. Here are some drawings i found: http://www.axiomatic-music.co.uk/acatalog/p90_metric.jpg They also have specs, but they cost 0.99 pounds: http://www.axiomatic-music.co.uk/acatalog/...ifications.html The bottom of this page has a similar pic but in imperial measurements. However I find that those drawings look slightly different at the bottom compared to how I thought real P90's look. Seems like there is more space than usual under the plastic bobbin. I thought they were meant to look more like this: http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/p-90.shtml Anyway, unless you're trying to replace previous pickups, you're free to design them the way you want, and I don't see the need to get everything within a fraction of a mm of what someone designed half a century ago... I've been thinking about making some P-90's myself in the future, but I think I'll just make my own designs based on what I like, rather than copy them down to the last little detail. Heggis
  10. Trussart makes steel guitars, (hollow ones) and they seem to have quite a few fans out there. He makes Tele shaped steel guitars with vintage looks and so on. But I think they have neck made from timber. Heggis
  11. http://gretschpages.com/forum/other-guitar...er/12459/page1/ Check out this guitar I found over at a Gretsch forum... That's insane Heggis
  12. Do you have a guitar you can put them in to test them? If so, you can always find out which one is not right, if any... Also, I think the resistance can increase if there is damage to the wire somewhere that did not cut the wire completely, but damaged it somehow. Where did you get the pickups from? Maybe they can answer any questions about what the pickups should read in terms of resistance. If you bought them as a set, maybe one of them is simply the wrong pickup. Handling mistakes do happen. I'd suggest getting in contact with the seller. Heggis.
  13. If the wings aren't glued on yet, you can just route a channel in the blank between the two control cavities (on the side of the blank where you will be gluing it to the central core). Depending on the width of your central core, this channel could also go through the pickup cavities, making wire access very easy. Heggis
  14. Somewhere in the "My Controls" section you can choose not to view signatures, but I do agree, large signatures with pics can really make a thread look really messy. Heggis
  15. You could use a normal toggle switch to do this, without it being the selector switch. Then you wouldn't need two switches to do it, and one of the positions would be on, the other off. In that way you do make the switch an "enable" button, which is easier to use, but you don't have to turn the volume down on anything. Heggis
