1. Learning stick is easy and even hilly terrain is a piece of cake when you get used to it.

Now, the practical issue for me when buying a car is resale value.........here in the US sticks bring very poor resale value unless they are attached to a high dollar sports car which the Yaris is not :D I'd go auto if you're going to keep it for more than 3 years.

  2. And Samick guitars are hard to find.. unless you live somewhere in Asia.

I've seen many Samick guitars.. but that Jackson like headstock is totally new.

Oh yea.. sry to disappoint you but you may be lucked out..

Plus Samick guitars are merged with Greg Bennett designs.. I'm pretty sure G.Bennett basically bought them.. but not too sure..

    What GEJ said......

Samick's are all over the States....I know because I sell them.

Greg B designs for Samick, he does not own them.

  3. Well if that little bit of moderation is going to cause such drama maybe it's best if you do go. We've had our share of it here over the years and frankly (pun intended) we don't need any more of it. Good luck finding a forum that is as loose as this one.........

    :D

  4. :D

Be prepared for a million questions that are already answered in the ad.......I had a guy email me tonight asking if a Schecter C-1 E/A I have listed has the piezo in it....if he would have read the description (the first two lines of the ad BTW!!) it clearly stated "GraphTech Ghost Piezo". You just have to love people!! It took him longer to type out and email the question than it would have to read one sentence.

Shipping overseas is a PITA but I do it anyway. The people in the rest of the world want decent guitars and their prices are crazy from what I've been told. I do about 8-10% of my sales overseas. Check the following link FIRST before you ship anything:

    USPS Country Listing

That gives you the size restrictions on each country as well as a guess on postage. I just charge $100 USD up front and refund the difference from actual once I ship it. Most people are OK with that and the ones that aren't....well, I guess they buy somewhere else. Use air mail parcel post. Surface takes 6 weeks and express is too expensive. If the guy is willing to pay express or wait 6-8 weeks I will do it.

There are some export forms to fill out and inevitably you will get the guy that wants you to declare a gift or undervalue merchandise. I don't do it. I insure it for the full amount paid and I state the actual price paid on the export doc's. That's the only way you can get insurance on it at that value and if you ever need to use the insurance you'll be glad you do things that way. They have to pay taxes on that and those can get pricey depending on the country and how much they paid but I still think they get better deals than buying at home.

I could ramble on and on but I won't. If you want any more info on eBay or shipping drop me an email or PM.

  5. I'll get beaten for saying this out loud....

Ernie Ball MusicMan bass. Got it, played it, didn't like it at all :D Its still collecting dust in my studio. I watched a reggae band and the guy was just killing his MM so of course I had to get one. I quickly found it was not meant to be played by the likes of me! Good bass but not suited to this old blues guys style.

  6. I played a Grind for a year or two and it is a great bass for the money. I had some issues with the neck though because it is so thin so I would recommend playing the one you are considering (don't buy one online) and check the frets and neck real well.

Another low priced bass that sounds good is the Epi Les Paul bass. Put some decent p'ups in it and you have a great low priced thumper. If you want to spend a few more bucks buy the Vinnie Hornsby Les Paul. I can't stop playing mine!

Fender Jazz is also a decent bass and you can pick them up on eBay for a decent price.

Lots of good 1x15 combos out there and again it depends on your $$$ situation. I have a Peavey Combo 115 that I am willing to part with. PM me if you're interested and in the US....its way too heavy to ship further than the lower 48.

  7. Accepted nominations are:

    Thegarehanman

    Mattia

    Maiden69

    Setch

    GuitarFrenzy

    I vote for all 5!

Come to think of it. Is there a reason to only nominate a few? Why not have more deputys on patrol?

Nominations are open for as many get nominated Bill. I just put the accepted list up so the same names don't keep getting re-nominated.

With that I think you would make a good mod. You have always had positive input on the site and if you're willing I would like to see you as a part of the mod team. Soooooo, I nominate Jehle the banana man if he is willing.

  8. MAILMAN: one more post off topic and you will get a 2 week vacation. Keep the thread on guitars and keep your opinions in the off topic section.

you're gonna ban me from the site for talking about fedex and guitars in a fedex-guitar thread?

    man, thats harsh

Read it again....I said you'd get a 2 week vacation. I also never said you couldn't bash FedEx....I said keep it in the off topic section. Now, am I harsh or do you need to re-read and comment again? I never mentioned the word "ban" in my reply. We have all had problems with shippers but to drag that into a thread about a guitar on progress is not appropriate. Comment on the guitar and keep your off topic comments to yourself or post them in the off topics section.

If you want to reply to this take it to PM. We are done clogging up Brian's post with this garbage.

  9. haha, it took 12 months of advertising.............. :D

200x "hey, i know ALL the details are in the brochure, and you've thought of every question i could have possibly asked no matter how stupid and ridiculous, but.... i have to ask one question... will we actually be making a guitar?".................

and 50x "im definately in dude, you can count on me, im as keen as can be about doing the course, woo hoo, dont start it without me, OMGFFSTIGTBGBBQAMP, bla bla" people...........

and an amazing 12x people who promise "the deposit is in the mail dude, OMG this is exciting"...........

before the final FOUR came up with the deposit and had the canhoona's big enough to give it a go.

    :D  :D

Reminds me of the guy that says "hey, if you let me buy that guitar I'll pay you next week". Or one I'm sure you hear a lot...."I want this and that, etc, etc, etc and if you get me a quote I'll put some money down and we can get going". Yeah, right! About one out of 100 does that.....business is fun!!

Even so, it's better than working for someone else. I can't wait until these are done. BTW that guys headstock shape looks VERY familiar..... B)

  10. I have a Peavey Combo 115 (300W w/ one 15") plus a 2x10, both are mint and were used in my studio. The Combo 115 is not the cheap TNT 115. Look up the specs at peavey.com and PM me if you're interested in it. I'm in the US (Wisconsin) also so you'll have to let us know where you are so you get responses from guys where you are located. Shipping on this would be more than it's worth if you're overseas or in Canada.

I'm sorry, but can someone please remind me what the use of bumping 2 and a half year old threads is?Theres a pinned topic about sweep picking at the top of the players corner section.
Someone may do it as a joke? I did that once and I laughed....
Or....maybe someone did a SEARCH and this is what popped up. Imagine that!! You guys keep complaining about nobody doing searches and when a guy does and brings up an old thread you jump him. Maybe pointing them nicely in the direction of the pinned topic would be a better approach.

  12. A licensed product means the company has permisson to copy and sell an item and has to pay licensing fees and possibly a portion of profits from the sales back to the original owner of the design and or product. It also gives the consumer the warm fuzzies that they are buying a part that will fit. For example if you were replacing a neck on a strat and didn't have $300 to pay for a Fender neck you could buy a "Licensed Strat" neck for $100 that was appropriate for the year/model you have and be pretty darn sure it's going to fit.

  13. The point is you listed it as a "Vintage Gibson Sg Junior Replica" and as was pointed out it is not. A replica is by definition:

    rep·li·ca ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rpl-k)

    n.

A copy or reproduction of a work of art, especially one made by the original artist.

A copy or reproduction, especially one on a scale smaller than the original.

n : copy that is not the original; something that has been copied [syn: replication, reproduction]

Nobody is flaming you we are just trying to set the listing straight so nobody gets something they thought was something else.....no matter the cost.
