Squeaky Tremolo Springs

by Brian Calvert

This is an old trick and works very well if you have springs that are noisy and driving you crazy.

Remove the back plate off of your guitar and insert small elongated strips of cotton balls down inside the barrels of each spring.

A tip for placing the strips in each spring is to roll or twist the end of a cotton ball and tie a piece of dental floss around it. Then thread the dental floss through the barrel of the spring and pull the strip of cotton through it, clip/cut off the dental floss and move on to the next one. (You might want to remove each spring to do this)

Don't pack them tight but rather loosely so that the fibers from the cotton will stick out between the spirals of each spring. This will quiet that booger down without harming the action of the springs!
