Floating Tremolo Bar Tips
by Brian Calvert
| If your Trem bar is
to tight: Simply remove the Trem* from the body leaving the strings attached and find the spring which clips it in attached to the bottom of the Trem arm socket barrel. You can loosen this spring with a Phillips head screw driver then cover the end of the barrel with a small amount of duct tape this holds the parts in place after they work their way completely loose later. If your Trem bar is to loose: A quick fix is to wrap a small amount of plumbers Teflon Tape around the base where the white nylon bushing is and insert the bar back into the barrel. Of course replacing the nylon bushing is the correct way but usually you will have a time trying to find a supply of these without buying a new Trem arm. * Tip: In order to quickly remove a floating Trem system from a body without having to set it up again once you put it back in just flip the guitar on it's face, remove the Trem/spring cover off of the back and take the springs off either the claw or the base of the Trem itself (base works best). Then pull the Trem out of the front! Simply reverse this process and as long as you didn't mess with the Trem posts or adjust the saddles your guitar should end up exactly like you had never removed the Trem in the first place, in tune and ready to go. |
