Taurus Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 how much would it cost to put this sort of engraving on my standard fender neckplate? Plus how would i go about getting it applied? any reccomendations? Quote
ELXVintagefade Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 It depends what you want to engrave but I do engraving and watch sale at work and its $15.00 for 10 characters and 15 cents for each additional charaacter. Lucky for me I can engrave my stuff free! Quote
Taurus Posted August 9, 2004 Author Report Posted August 9, 2004 the pic above is what i want, or something similar, including the bell logo Quote
ELXVintagefade Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Uh, the picture isn't showing up. Quote

a bicycle made of anarchy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 mike oldfield, rock and roll! Quote
a bicycle made of anarchy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 yessir.. i grew up on a steady diet.. the most amazing one-man-band-slash-producer ever... the number of recording techniques this guy pioneered is amazing. that being said, his recent stuff is sorta P-U.. although tubular bells one and two will always be fan-freakin-tastic Quote
a bicycle made of anarchy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 also i think that most engravers will have no problem with the letters, but lots of problem with the actual bell.. they might be able to do a close approximation.. of course, take it in, i'm not an engraver and i don't know exactly what they can do... if you can find one that will do it it'll probably be $$$$$$$ Quote
a bicycle made of anarchy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 finally.. for those who can't see the image copy and paste this into your address bar. http://www.freewebs.com/crises/neckplate.jpg Quote
skibum5545 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 A few guys on this forum do hand engraving coupled with their inlays. Talk to them; maybe they'd do it (for a fee) or would direct you to someone who would. Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 If you're in the US go to the mall and see if there is a store called Things Remembered. They'll do it cheap like $10 Quote
Taurus Posted August 11, 2004 Author Report Posted August 11, 2004 unfortunately im in the UK, so engravers (like gun engravers) are hard to find. I suppose the lack of guns means a lack of engravers. does anyone know any cheap engraves in the UK (preferably in the west midlands),that would be great. i also agree that alot of oldfield recent work is close to elevator music (mainly tres lunas). The remastered tubular bells entitled Tubular Bells 2003 is absolutely excellent, such good sound quality. In my opinion he is a fantastic guitarist who is underrated, but you will never justify it i suppose seeing as all people remember is the piano riff to the exorcist . Quote
a bicycle made of anarchy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 exactly.. oldfield is so much more than just a keyboard riffer recipe for oldfield... humbucker in neck position with tone control rolled almost all the way off... then whammy the hell out of any held notes... Quote
