americangothic Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I was refered to this site, for a more accurate/reliable response. I was in the car today, thinking of the wiring on my soon to be built custom, and I was wondering if this was possible. What my idea envolves is two 5 way switches, each selection controlling a pickup selection: Hummer 2 Coil Tapped Hummer 2 Singlecoil Coil Tapped Hummer 1 Hummer 1 In this configuration, twice, thus enabling any conbination of two pickups, or just one, eg: Hummer 1 / Coil Tapped Hummer 2 Hummer 1 / Hummer 1 Coil Tapped Hummer 2 / Singlecoil I was wondering how feasable(sp) this is, and whether it is worth investing the time/money Quote
lovekraft Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 It seems to me that you're building in an awful lot of redundancy, but yes, it can be done fairly easily. In the end it's down to what you want, but I think it would be a lot more difficult to use, especially live. It would be easier to wire two push/pull pots as coil splitters and one to add in the bridge (or neck, your choice) pickup to a standard 5-way switch setup, and keep the regular Super-Strat layout(V-T-T).
