litchfield Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I thought they were the crappy Single locking floyds Kramer put out in the 80s. This auction for one seem to be different. Can anyone help me here? Quote
G_urr_A Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 If that's a Floyd 2, either it has had a saddle replacement, or mine has. My Floyd 2 has saddle assemblies that hold the ball end of the string, leaving you with no need to cut ball ends, but not superb tuning stability. But that's really all I can say. Quote
litchfield Posted August 16, 2004 Author Report Posted August 16, 2004 Found this on VK's floyd page. Pic from auction: So...err, um ***? Quote
G_urr_A Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Yeah, the upper on is what I've got, except mine is black. Quote
litchfield Posted August 16, 2004 Author Report Posted August 16, 2004 does the second pic show up? Quote
G_urr_A Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 No, not for me. But I guess that's one of the pics in the auction, and I've been there and seen it. But, no, it doesn't show up for me. Quote
Guest AlexVDL Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Found this on VK's floyd page. Pic from auction: So...err, um ***? The schaller floyds have the round knife edge inserts and a thick cast baseplate, the 80's floyd rose II have two narrow straight inserts, and also a thick cast baseplate. The black one in the auction has no knife edge inserts... is has the same construction as the floyd original, actually it an exact replica. I've seen several of them, and they are indeed marked as an floyd rose II. So who can solve this mistery? Quote
RAI6 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I have a Floyd II on my old Kramer, and it looks like the one in the auction... Like a "normal" Floyd. As for the auction, I find it interesting that he claims that the trem has never been installed, yet it looks like the fine tuners have their black finish completely worn off.... How would that happen if it's been sitting in a box for 20 years...? Quote
KTLguitars Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 RAI6, you wroteAs for the auction, I find it interesting that he claims that the trem has never been installed, yet it looks like the fine tuners have their black finish completely worn off.... How would that happen if it's been sitting in a box for 20 years...? To me they look rusty (and the intonation fixing screws as well)!? Might have been laying in his garage for 20 years.... Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 There are 2 different Floyd II's the Original is like the one in the first photo. The second one was more like a Schaller Floyd. It had hardened Knife edges and was double locking Quote
Maiden69 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Litch, the one in the auction is like the FRII on my Kramer Focus 1000, the one you posted I have never seen before! I guess it's like a low pro of the II. Quote
