Frenster
I have a '42 banner J-45 that has worn through to the wood in an area near the soundhole. What is the best way to protect that? Should I lacquer it? If so, what is the best method?

Frenster
Yeah, my mistake for thinking that the post didn't take just because I got an error message. Silly me. Hopefully someone has an answer for me, as this is my baby, the first guitar I ever played.
Ki swordsman
yeah my guess would be you could either carefully do a little patch clearcoating or sand down and refinish the whole thing but wait til you have better advice, cos i'm really not sure good luck
Frenster
There will be no refinishing this baby! I've put every dent and scratch and scrape on it since I was six! I just want to protect the bare wood...any advice from a vintage finish repair person?

did291
Shellac is great ,it will seal the wood and protec it ,plus the scratch will be still there for a long time .benedetto use it to seal the inside of is achtop.easy ,safe and compatible with most of the finish existing.I use it as a sanding sealer before finishing.just mix it yourself.better than the pre mix type.
