RGGR
Currently in process of glueing two wood pieces together for body of guitar. What is best way of doing this, so grain is alined for maximum strength??? Option A, B, C, or D??? Please advice?
Southpa
Not sure how much it matters (structurally) but I would stick with what is symmetrical, so...my choices would be A or C. This way you might have an even grain pattern on each side.
AlGeeEater
C looks the coolest to me.
RGGR
I don't care much for grain patterns on top, cause body will be fully painted. I was thinking structurally C would be best, considering wrap and all. Two pieces working against each other. What do you think?

What do you think? your right on about that, the press against each other if the want to warp, so it will be less likely to warp (so my grade 10 wood teacher said) Either way, C would be my choice Curtis
Lex Luthier
B & D are both the same, used in furniture because it's more stable, I use A & C, which are both the same, because it just looks nicer.
MzI
id hafta agree with lex, a and c would be most likely to warp while b and d are most sturcturally strong, tho if you glue properly and dont introduce the wood in to an atmosphere with too much moisture before you hard finish you should be ok MzI
Northendem
C BITCH!!!!!!!!
AlGeeEater
C will warp easier...duh
RGGR
Local luthier also adviced C. Although this is structually less strong as B and D. A and C are more likely to wrap, but still everybody seems to choose this option. Appearantly for body, the looks are more important than wrap I guess. For neck wrap is of bigger concern. I have'nt really had problems with bodies warping
Sparky
Yeah, as long as you aren't using balsa wood for your body I wouldn't really worry about it...just go with what looks best.
