A good starting point would be to check out a guitar with a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, and Seymour Duncan Jazz or '59 in the neck. A true workhorse combination.

Here's some info from "Guitar Player":

They have done several articles with him over the years and if you do a little searching on their site you should be able to find a side bar with Slash's gear. It describes all of his equipment and how it is tied together.

And who said Les Pauls can't rock!!!!!!

Most of slashes sound comes from a cranked marshall 2550, with the low output pickups, so that and a metal sound might be abit hard to aceive togther IMO
