Clifford_Guitar
Stupidest question ever, I'm new to this whole guitar building thing. When refering to tuners what does the ratio mean? i.e. 16:1, 18:1 I have a couple guesses but I need to know. thanks ! Graham
Hotrock
16:1 means that for every turn of the tuning peg (the bit that holds the string) the twiddly (button) bit has to turn 16 complte turns 18:1 means that it has to be turned 18 times. The 18:1 ration means that you can tune more accurately, but I'm thinking that the diameter of the tuning peg would also help with more accurate tuning (but thats irrelivant to your question) Anyway this is just my take on it, hopefully someone will confirm it for you (or blow me out of the water with the right answer)
