stratvox Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Hi. Im in the process of putting together my first guitar. It will strat bodied with a bolt on ebony boarded maple neck. It will have 2 humbuckers and a solid brass vintage style tremelo. I would love it to be a very les paul sounding guitar and what i mean is warm and sustaining especially from the neck pick up. Looking to santana type/peter green typ tones here and vh from the bridge! Yes, i know im asking alot. So, will a mahogany body give me that sustain that im looking for or does it not matter because it is not a set neck? If it doesnt make a deifference should i just get the less expensive alder neck? Three_Views Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 If you don't mind the extra weight and the extra money, go with the Mahoganey body wood. Brent Quote
Brian Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Yes on the wood but if your wanting sustain that last's I would say go with a hard tail verse's a traditional vintage trem. Quote
